Any Good swimming programs in Nassau with group swim? (not Saf-T-swim)

Looking to put my DS in a swimming program this summer.. I heard that hofstra has a good one that teaches in a group and then has play swimming after. I don't want solo instructional swim. Unfortunately, our town pool was badly damaged by sandy so we have to look elsewhere this year.

I actually don't recommend this place anymore. In the past I knewseveral people who used them and loved them. But this past year I have met several people who stopped using them (some after 1+ yrs) because they were unhappy. Most complaints were about the instructors.

A friend convinced me to enroll my younger daughter so the girls could swim together. My daughter took private lessons prior to this class and could swim some solo. Even though I told them she had prior lessons they put her in the more beginner group than the group that was more appropriate for her. She said they pulled her back and forth and wouldn't let her put her face in or try to swim. It is hard to learn the back stroke when you have a child head several inches out of the water and you pull them by the back of the neck. Her instructor just chatted with the other teacher the whole class ignoring the kids. Only stopped to yell at them when the 3 sitting would gently splash each other. One of the kids did not want to go back to her last lesson bc she said the instructor was mean, yells and smacked her leg (have no idea if that happened but it is what the child was crying when they tried to bring her in the last class). This child is normally very friendly and outgoing. Not the type to not separate without cause. My daughteris taking private lessons again and said she didn't want to go back there. I would definitely do group lessons again but we paid $200 and my daughter was in the water maybe 5 half laps in 40-45 mins. I pay $240 for 6 private 30 min lessons and she learned more in one lesson and was in the water the whole time with no
swimming aides (bubbles etc).

I wanted to like this place as it is very convenient for us but I just can't recommend them.

Look into Swim America....I really like their program. Their motto is float to save lives (not the exact words, but the meaning)

I also caution to stay away from Long Island Swim School. They are not at all about the kids - they are all about running a business and doing what is convenient for them. It's a family run business so you can't complain to anyone about anything because they are all related - the owner, front desk, head instructor....etc. The instructors all chit chat with each other and the kids are not happy there. I took my kids out. I suggest either the Hofstra program, the YMCA, Saf-T-Swim (each location has a totally different vibe) or your town pool. Nassau County has lessons at Echo Park and Eisenhower Park though that one is via lottery so you may not get in.
