Thank you's - 6 yr old
Do I make him write them out himself. We started and its a PITA!  I really wanna write them out and have him sign them, but he is clearly old enough to do himself right?

Nah. Still too little to do the whole thing, IMO (unless you're talking about like 1 or 2 cards, but for a whole bday party's worth, it's too much).
My friend just sent them out for her 6 yo and I love how she did it. Her son wrote "Dear Mary, Thank you! Love, Joey" And she (the mom) wrote out the personalized portion of the thank you (mentioning the specific gift).

I like that idea! I felt like ppl would think it was wrong if I wrote it out and just had him sign it...Thank you!

This is a good idea. I was gonna do like one or two a night, so it didn't overwhelm him but we haven't gotten past ONE and at this rate it'll be October!

I made dd do them when she turned 6. Oh my God! it was torturous. We screamed and cried. Ugh...
That being said, I think a few a night is good. I just pushed to get them out in one day so they didn't interfere with homework during the week.

All the kindergarten (5 and 6) year old thank yois we got over the year were from the child. "Thank you for x gift. Thank you for coming to my party or thank you for being a great friend."

I always make my dd write her own thank you's. If she has a lot of them to write, I cheat a little and buy the ones at target where she fills in the blanks.... Dear ________, Thank you very much for ______________. From , ___________. That was a very easy transition to writing the entire card herself.

I make ds write them. We keep it simple, a few a day. We keep the wording simple also...

At 6 I started telling him that if he wanted gifts he had to thank people for them!

I just had my son do it last night. He just turned 6 and we kept it very simple.
Thank you, Love Aiden.
As he gets older, he can personalize it more. He did 16 cards without a problem.
