Need help

Just had a baby 7w ago and just got the clearance to start working out again. I had a horrible pregnancy and wasn't allowed to exercise at all the entire pregnancy. So haven't worked out in about a year and ready to start again. Since I have a newborn have to work out at home. Any suggestions on good workouts I can do at home. I cant jump right into insanity or such as I am so out of shape. TIA.

Try Jillian Michaels 30 day shred- it is a short work out and she shows two ways to do each exercise. There are three levels on the DVD.

Re: Need help

When I was in the same situation I found that I liked recording the exercise shows that were Fit TV so that I had a variety of workouts to do (granted I was pretty out of shape so I preferred the lower level shows). I also rented a variety of DVDs from the library to do at home. I don't like repetetive workouts so that worked out well for me.

You can do a search on you tube. They have a lot of exercise videos and you can mix it up depending on what you like. I would also suggest buying some resistance bands or weights so that you can also incorporate some resistance training, along with cardio. Good luck!

Re: Need help

I was in a very similar situation. I had to stop most of my exercising while pregnant. And then when DD1 was born I had little help (DH was working) & I was BFing, so had to be close until a routine was set.... so I had to fit in what I could...but I did lose the 50lbs, within about 6months.

I watched what I ate & walked, walked walked. I did stroll or used the moby. And I did body wt exercises. Dips, push-ups, square, etc.

My DD liked to be on my lap for things like bridges, squats, etc.

Don't get discouraged, fit in what you can & enjoy your new LO! Chat Icon
