My bedding set is too "boring"

Ok so I am always asking my sister and my friends for advice and opinions and I love that I can do that. I asked my sister for help last weekend registering and she gave some great tips. But she can't seem to let go of my choice of bedding!! I picked one that I like (skip-hop Chocolate Lattice set) Its simple and maybe to some its a little boring, but that's our style! We don't want animals or floral or bright colors. It works for other people but its just NOT us! Our walls are green and we want to do everything brown and green and tan- just very natural looking and then because it's a girl a few SMALL pink accents here and there. But my sister keeps sending me links to other bedding sets she finds. I keep saying thanks but I'm not interested and she keeps sending more suggestions and they're all overly pink which is not what we want.
And now she said my mom told her it was boring too. I personally don't care what anyone else thinks but it's just annoying.

Tell her to back off... plain and simple. Your baby, your choice.

If she respects you she will listen.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately everyone has an opinion and it's just how you deal with it that can help you get through it. I remember when planning our wedding I was SO frustrated with people telling us what was going to look better or what they didn't like. I finally got to the point where we just would nod our heads...feed into what they said...and then do what we wanted anyway. It was about 2 months before the wedding when we started doing that and it made us a lot happier.

You can either tell your sister to back off (which I've had to do a couple times) or you can just smile and nod and go about your business. I actually read an article recently that said the biggest thing now for nurseries are to not do a theme and to do neutral with just some accents. Try and tell your sister that you are being "trendy" and when she has another child she can do it the way she wants and you'll be sure to tell her she is doing it wrong.

Remember, you are the one that has to look at it every day and live with it. I think it sounds very nice what you are doing. I'm not into the OVERLY pink either.

Don't let it bother you. To be honest, you don't even use the entire set, so why get something that has crazy patterns!? It isn't like the baby sleeps with the comforter part, which is usually the most decorative piece. Just pick what you like

Tell her to shut it and when she has a kid she can do what she wants.

I am NOT doing a theme nursery either, so anyone who wants to tell me what to do can go suck it.

I know I more or less did tell her. Whats funny is that she does have two kids and I remember her venting to ME about our mom being too opinionated when she was pregnant and picking out stuff!! I think I may need to remind her!

People get very excited when someone else is having a baby and the opinions start flying! I would just say "Those are nice, but not our style. We really love the set we picked."

haha I went the less diplomatic route and told her I didnt want a room that looks like pepto bismol threw up everywhere!! hahaha

No offense if people like that look. Personally that was what my bedroom looked like from ages 7-12 because I used to be OBSESSED with pink! I still love pink, but we have a certain look to our house and we like everything in it to kind of "go" with that look. Plus we aren't even going to have a nursery for the first 6-8 months so the crib will be in our room- which is brown and blue.

Next time I'd go with plain bedding and dress it up with décor.
