And if so, did you just bite the bullet and pay the full premium? I am due in November ... my FMLA will run out in March. I am taking the rest of the year off so we will need coverage until September when I go back. Through my district it will be almost $1800 a month!
My other options would be childplus for the kids and a hope and prayer that DH and I don't get sick.... I know... not the most responsible choice.
Or...
Since DH is a solo proprietor he would be able to apply for HealthyNY.
Has anyone ever done this? I am not looking to cheat the system in any way.. but if we can get coverage for less than a mortgage, I would like to.
THanks!

I paid the $1800. It was only for one month, any more we would not have been able to swing my loss in pay and the premium. DD was born in September so I was out of work from that June until the following Feb 1. So when you look at it I was out of work for 7 months and only had to pay in for 1.
