"buy and sell" groups on FB
I can't stop looking! I already got an (almost) brand new radio flyer 2 seater wagon (with canopy) for $40 ($180 in stores). We also got a little clubhouse for DD for $60. I am mad because there was a double stroller for $75 and I let it go

I live in Oceanside, so there is an "Oceanside Odds and Ends" group... but there is also nassau suffolk buy and sell- you can do a search for buy and sell and see what comes up!

I'm addicted too. I've gotten so many things. a toy ride on John Deere tractor for DS, learning DVDs, kids beach tent, even deals on my husbands Long Island Railroad monthly ticket

I've def bought more than I've sold bc of those groups!!! Someone on here mentioned it one day and I've been hooked ever since... My latest buy was a brand new play shopping cart for dd for like half price! And even better was that I had to drive like literally 2 mins to get it!
Dh thinks I'm insane... "What are you looking to buy now!?!?"

Eta: this one seems to be the most popular Nassau Suffolk buy sell
I don't have the Oceanside one bc I'm all the way out east... All the other groups I belong to are Suffolk groups as well

I'm addicted to the Nassau/Suffolk buy and sell groups. There are a few other types that are similar that I think people cross post on:
Hand Me Overs (people post free stuff). Most of the people are in Suffolk (not sure where you are located)
Long Island mama Swap/Buy
Long Island Free Items
One persons trash is another persons treasure-NY
Baby Cheapskate (this is for all over the country)

Regarding HAND ME OVERS -
It is a womens Co-OP community page
where you have to
"Give to Get" (post an item - take item)
within Farmingdale, commack traveling east to Ridge only.
It is not a charity page but a wonderful
HAND ME OVER page of useful, clean,
childrens, parents, and house items.
WE post cleanly, pick up within 3 days
and communicate.
Everyone gets along and respects the page
with helping to Co-op it.

I have a related question. When you sell stuff on these boards do you have people come to your home for pick up or do you meet them at a public place? I tried selling a coach bag and was supposed to meet this woman at a parking lot and she did not show. I wasted 45 mins of my time. If I was home I can make better use of my time but not sure if I want strangers showing up at my house.

The last 2 things we bought Dh went to their houses to pick up. Today he is meeting the seller in a parking lot. We have her cp# and we have hers.

I love looking but I have to say in some cases I am really amazed by what people think its a fair price for a used item- if you used it for 2 years should be at least 50% off-- not a couple of dollars less than what I can get it for new! jmo!

Whenever I'm interested in an item and I think the price is too high, I offer a price lower than their listing price. Sometimes I get taken up on it, sometimes we meet in the middle. Negotiate! The worst they can say is "no." :)
