37.5 week appt didn't go well
Hi girls! Just came back from my 37.5 week appointment and got some news that has me stressed. 2 weeks ago the baby was measuring on the smaller side at 5 lbs 4oz. (20th percentile). They were not concerned at this point because everything else looked great and said I might just be having a smaller baby.
Fast forward 2 weeks to today and baby is measuring 5lbs. 5 oz. (11th percentile). Apparently, 10th percentile and under is a red flag. Doctor wanted me to get an additional sono/doppler at this outpatient place through Stony Brook to get a more accurate reading with their equipment. Of course, because of the Sandy Baby Boom, the doctor can't even get me in for an emergency appt. until next Monday. So here I am... stressed and worried until then!!!
My son was 7lbs. 6 oz. and 1 week early. More "average" size. They actually predicted he would be closer to 8 lbs.
Anyone have any experience with this???

Re: 37.5 week appt didn't go well
I had something similar with my DD, along with low fluid, so they induced me at 39 weeks. She was born 7 lbs 5 oz and 19.5 in. Im not sure how all of these sonos were wrong, but for us they were, maybe u will have the same outcome! Id try not to stress though, as hard as it is, its not good for you or the baby and wont change anything so try ur best to keep ur mind occupied this week till u see the next doc. Goodluck!

Re: 37.5 week appt didn't go well
Yep me! DD always measured small as did my belly and due to that and my borderline high BP in pregnancy they had me coming for doppler sonos and NST's every week towards the end. All always showed up fine. Then lo and behold, DD was born- 1 day before her due date- at a very healthy and average 7 lbs even. Don't stress it too much- these sonos are notoriously inaccurate when it comes to determining the baby's weight. Not to mention some babies are just smaller - but perfectly healthy.

I just wanted to say good luck and the measurements can be off by 1lb either way. It's possible that your last growth sono was 4lb or this one is actually 6lb. The more testing might help. My sister told me that mother's are usually closest to the guess of weight then any test that can be done. They told me that DS was going to be close to 8lb6oz or more and I guessed 8lb2oz (this was only a couple hours before going into labor). DS came out 7lb15oz. Mommy's are always right!

Don't stress. I had hyperemis my entire pregnancy so I measured small my entire pregnancy. They kept telling me dd would be 5-6lbs towards the end they swore she was over 8lbs. She was 7lbs 2ozs when born. Those things are notoriously wrong even though they swear they are only off by 1/2 pound. Also if she does weigh 5 or 6 pounds at full term and she's still kicking and her hb is strong I wouldn't worry. Many full term babies are 5-6 pounds. They just may be petite

Re: 37.5 week appt didn't go well
They could be off well over a pound. 1 week before I was induced they told me DC was measuring 9 lbs. He was born over 2 lbs more than that. I am sure everything is fine. Here are some for you and your baby!!!

I was full term and they said 7 pounds two days before I delivered but she ended up being 5 pounds and perfectly healthy! Now a very active 8 month old so do not stress too much.

Re: 37.5 week appt didn't go well
I wouldn't be concerned... doc is prob being overly cautious. Sono at my high risk doc said DD was measuring 6 lbs over 2 weeks before I delivered, and they predicted an 8 lb baby max. I delivered at 39 weeks and she was 6 lb, 2 oz. Perfectly fine. Those sono measurements can be way off. Go, but don't be so worried... IMO, it's just to check.
