Pics of white fireplace? Or fireplace with white built-ins?
The house we are almost in contract for (we signed, sent to seller) has a great fireplace with dark wood panel built-ins surrounding it. I want to lighten it up and I'm trying to decide if I should paint the entire area white, or paint the surround and leave the fireplace in the current mix of red brick. Anyone have any pics of their fireplace they care to share?

This was the FP at my last house (sorry, only had a xmas pic on my computer). When we bought the house, the surrounding wood was dark. We painted it white. I loved the way it looked. On our current house, our FP had a thin black, dated looking mantle with red brick. We just ripped out the black mantle and replaced it with a white one and some more decorative, boxed out white wood on the sides. Sorry, I don't have a pic of that one yet. Image Attachment(s):

we have a similar set up in the house we are buying. we also have dark wood living room furniture, so i dont think we will paint the built-ins.
i am considering white-washing the fireplace to brighten the room up tho.

Love this! Is white-washing something you will be doing yourself? I'd love to know how easy or difficult it is!
