NYC Teachers: When do you have to be notified of your teaching assignment?
Is there a date or a guideline as to when we have to be made aware of what we are teaching next year?

You should know already..preference sheets went out around April/May..I'm pretty sure you should have an assignment by the last day of school

I filled out my preference, but the administrators have not yet told any of the math department what they are teaching for next year. Most of the other departments know already.

It's contractual, I forget exactly the amount of days. Your UFT rep should have filed a grievance then.

Our union rep is still a "new" almost tenured teacher, so she doesn't like to step on toes.

Our union rep is still a "new" almost tenured teacher, so she doesn't like to step on toes.
That's ridiculous! She should not have been rep then if she can't stand up for others! Being in the union is not about worrying about stepping on toes- its about going toe to toe with admin!

Thanks all.
I went in today to give a PD to our new teachers. I found out what I am teaching, and I am glad I waited! I got what I wanted.
3 algebra 2/trig
1 pre-calc
12th grade advisory!
