Moving from 1st to 4th grade
I've taught 1st grade for the past 7 years (1 year of Kindergarten thrown in there), took the last year off with my LO ... and now was placed in 4th grade for the upcoming school year. Don't get me started on WHY this happened because there is no good explanation.  
Anyway - anyone go through a similar move? Any advice? I feel like a fish out of water. Also just any general 4th grade info would be great! Thanks!

I'm opposite from you- going from 5th grade ICT to Kindergarten! I've taught 4th/ 5th grade for the last 6 years! Never done K- but I am excited!

I've taught 4th for 9 years, but am taking a medical leave this year. Feel free to fm any questions you have.
I've used everyday math, math connects, my math, treasures, and balanced literacy.

No advice, but I was just moved from 2nd to 4th. I was very upset about it. I seem to be the "mover" in my school. 5th, 3rd, down to 1st for 2years, then 2nd for 2years and now 4th.  People are saying its a good thing, but I just want to stay put! Good luck!

Get acquainted with the Common Core Standards for the grade ASAP. You have 3 tests to prepare them for ELA, Math and Science.
I taught 4th for 3 years. I LOVED it but that was before CC came along and this new eval system.

I am also moving from 1st to 4th. I taught 4th years ago for 11 years and did 3 years in 1st. I taught 4th long before common core so I know there will be some major changes. I am only teaching math and science to both 4th grades so I will have 2 tests to prepare them for which I am not happy with again. I did live teaching both grades just a little nervous about the core, setting up a whole new room, etc not to mention jam coming back from maternity leave after 7 months. Get familiar with the core and if you aero. Pinterest there are a ton of things for 4th grade.

I went from teaching 2nd for 6 years to 4th last year. HUGE HUGE HUGE adjustment curriculum wise. I was shocked about what is expected.

Thanks for all your replies! I just started reading up on the CC - definitely a huge jump from 1st. Any favorite beginning of the year activities?
