Best District to Sub...
I am an excessed tenured reading teacher. I have 5+ years teaching experience. Though I am applying everywhere that has a posting (though there are not many postings), I am thinking that I may have to get into a district so that they can "get to know me". Any suggestions on a district that is known to hire their subs, and one that will be hiring in the near future.
Thanks so much! I am certified Elementary, as well as Reading birth-6.

I wonder if a bigger district would be better? and one that is more likely to grow?

I am not on LI, but this is true where I live. I was excessed in 2012 and was able to find a position at a large district. There is a greater turnover rate due to retirements and teaches moving in and out.

Best District to Sub...
I've had many friends who have started off as subs in Elmont and have moved up to tenure track positions. They have all moved pretty quickly from per diem sub, to building sub, to leave replacement, to tenure track.
However, they just had a TON of postings for teaching positions on OLAS. From what I've heard, they excess a lot as you get close to tenure, or switch your tenure track after 3 years so you start all over.
