Stressing about Money... need help on Debt Consolidations or Filing Bankructpy
Hey... I am a poster under a secret name who needs help!
Does Anyone have any info on Debt Consolidations or Filing Bankruptcy? I am so upset at this and honestly cannot believe it has come to this, but it is just so out of hand now... I had never had debt, worked an amazing job... but when I left my job to be at home with my child... My husband then got laid off a few weeks later... We had to Short sale our place... Moved in with mommy (which we love) and he has a great job now (well he works like crazy and gets no benefits) So we are paying for health insurance out of pocket. I just feel like EVERY check that comes in... is going out and only paying ridiculous interest rates... I need help. I totally took a hit on my credit Short Selling our place (it was only in my name) Do you think I would be able to do these Debt Consolidations or Bankruptcy? I feel like my credit is already done so maybe just try to fix it all at once? Does anyone have any advice or any info on anything like this? I cannot believe it has come so far.... but honestly this health insurance and these cc bills we have no money left for anything... and I am stressing........ We have been trying to fix it and keep up and do the right thing by paying it off but the interests are just too high... i have called all the companies already, have been on the payment plans... but they are asking for a lot of money to be taken out automatically, and not even decreasing the interest rates that much. I am pregnant and due with another baby... and I am stressing!!!

i have done debt consolidation before and not because i couldnt pay my bills i just wanted to pay one payment month rather than a bunch of different ones. Didnt realize my credit would take a hit but honestly it wasnt horrible.
I had over 20K in debt (if not more) i think (this was i think at least 7 years ago) and my monthly payemtn was over 600 a month but it was all paid over i think in 3-3.5 years.
I would think exploring debt consolidation compianes would be the better route than bankruptcy. I cant remember the name i used but if i do i will let you know
ETA: I still had the site saved and i was able to log in. I actually did it 8 years ago. they charge you a fee of $50 a month so i am not sure if thats average or not i did not do a lot research on it i just kind of pick a company and went

Someone close to me used Lexington Law Firm to negotiate debt down. It saved a ton of money, impacted credit, but nothing major in law firm.

CALL NOVADEBT!! They were lifesavers with us. They are government approved and not for profit. They are not scam artists. They work with creditors to get interest rates lowered and have them stop charging and reporting late fees after a few months of on time payments. You pay them one payment and they pay for you.
We paid off an obscene amount of debt in a few years and even paid off early. When things got a little better we put extra money towards them. It helped my credit score while I was doing it.

My mother and I have both used Consolidated Credit to consolidate debt. I think the better option is to look at consolidation of your debt first, bankruptcy should always be your very last option.

If it were me, already having a short sale and damanged credit, I would look into bankruptcy. At least this way you can eliminate most of that cc debt and start having some money to save/work with again. With consolidation, you're still looking at monthly payments that can be high.
