We went to Dreams LaRomana last year and it was very family friendly. I have heard the the Dreams resort in Punta Cana is also very nice - friends went last year with the teenagers.

We are most likely doing either Dreams La Romana or Dreams punta cana....get very good reviews! And the price seems great!

I just went to dreams la romana in may with my dh, parents, and dd. gorgeous grounds but I don't know if I'd go back... Too many mishaps for me... Some staff friendly, others were downright rude and you felt like they were talking behind your back. Food was really hit or miss. Most was a miss. But it could be that we're spoiled NYers wih the best of everything. I started writing a review to post on trip advisor but my complaints started getting too long... Lol and I never did finish the review.

I agree with pp about the food, but we did have some very good meals. I find in general that the food at AI's is not usually as good as going to restaurants, (which is why I generally avoid AI's - but they work very well for large groups and families) but that's not really an option in DR. We really didn't have any problems with the staff (except for an excursion that included a tour of a cigar factory and when we booked they "forgot" to mention that no one under 18 was allowed in - while my 14 year old stepson was sitting right there). They gave us a bit of hard time getting our money back (over $600 for the 4 of us), but eventually it was fully refunded.

We stood at the Barcelo Bravaro resort last year and felt the same way. The grounds were gorgeous nice pools and big clean rooms but the staff was down right rude (except for the cleaning people and ground maintenance workers), the food was ehhh. Don't know if I would ever go back there.

The Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real. Great kiddie pool and they have a building where the kids can hang out, play games, do crafts.

Did you check out the Iberostar Bavaro? I went years ago (before kids) and it was very nice. Love the iberostar chain for AI's (been to a bunch with and without kids). Recently looked into going there again - it still gets high ratings and good reviews.

I've stayed at Iberostar Bavaro and Melia Carbie Tropical. I think for that age group the Iberostar Bavaro might be a good fit.
Melia Caribe Tropical is good if you have a lot of little ones. They have a LOT of stuff for kids, including a day care by the main pool.
