Fractured finger
I have been having severe pain in my middle finger so I went to the doctor today. They found a fracture that they feel is not new. The doctor wants me to see an orthopedist. What will they do for a fractured middle finger? It's at the base of the finger.
Thanks

Re: Fractured finger
Not sure if each case is different. They will take X-rays and send you for to a hand therapist for hand therapy.

Re: Fractured finger
They will do another xray at the orthopedic. There isn't much they can do but put your finger on the splint and tape it together to hold your finger together.
They will suggest to increase your strength afterwards. IMO ask your dr to put the splint on. No need to go to another dr. A fracture is a hairline break and they can't do anything to help you other than putting it on the splint.
To increase your finger and wrist strength, squeze a ball a few times a day.
I hope you feel better

Re: Fractured finger
Go to the hand orthopedist. If the fracture is that low, it could affect the joint (not the knuckle, the one below it in the hand). You don't want to have problems later on in life.
