Has anyone done a tour at this hospital? Or delivered?
This is my doctor's primary hospital which he likes to delivery at. His secondary is South Nassau, but that is a 40 minute drive from my home. My friend delivered there and are familiar with how clean the facilities are and the fact that they have private rooms.
Any information would be great!

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
I delivered there last July. I had a great experience and would go back to deliver again. The maternity nurses were amazing. Most of the rooms there are all private too.
ETA: South Nassau is actually in my town, yet I went to Plainview ( 35 min ride). That was were my doc delivered so I didn't have a choice unless I wanted a stranger to deliver me elsewhere

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
I just delivered there 13 days ago. I had a great experience! It's a smaller maternity ward and very family oriented. My husband stayed overnight and my older daughter was there with him until 11 some nights. They have an open visitor policy. I had my own room, I know they try to keep everyone in their own rooms unless they have to double up. I have no complaints. The nurses were awesome, they do a breakfast buffet every morning, that husbands are welcome to as well if they stay the night. Any questions, feel free to pm me!

They are very accommodating, and i have heard good things. However if your baby has any health issues at birth, I was told that she would be sent to LIJ manhasset and I would have to stay at Plainview. That was not something I was personally willing to chance. For that reason I chose the other hospital my dr delivers at which is Good Sam.

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
Thank you so much for all the great information! On the boards I didn't see much information regarding the hospital. Plus online doesn't have many reviews regarding the maternity ward. I wanted to just deliver there for the mere conveneince of the location. My husband wouldn't have to drive as far and that hospital is much closer to my family. This makes me feel so much better that you all had such wonderful experiences!
I'm only 23 weeks so I have a bit to go! I know that so we will go to the hospital for the tour which I am extremely excited about.
Thanks again.

Gigi143, Congratulations!! Thank you for that information. Are the rooms double and they strive to just keep one person per room? Are they deliver rooms as well?
Thanks

This is true regarding babies health issues! Reason why I did not use a practice affiliated with this practice can't chance it since I've had preterm deliveries.

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
I guess I will keep that into consideration. If for some reason I go into pre-term labor, I'll consider driving to South Nassau since I belive they have a level 2 NICU otherwise I will just go to Plainview.

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
I am not sure about the delivery rooms, I had a c-section. My room was clearly a double, but only one bed, so I guess if they needed to they would wheel someone else in, but they do try to keep them private. They do have private rooms, but you have to pay extra for them.

Came on here for research on delivering at South Nassau and saw this post......I delivered both my kids at Plainview (2007 and 2009) and had amazing experiences.... was planning on delivering #3 there ( I am scheduled c on October 18)... Hospital is closing L&D on November 1st!!! Doc is concerned that staff is starting to drift out and things are getting disassembled, he would prefer I schedule at SN instead....just wanted to share this info.... GL

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
I was just gonna say but I saw someone posted it, that NS-Plainview is going to be closing there L&D , I was not sure of the date. North Shore/LIJ wants to focus its L&D on there Manhasset and LIJ hospitals.

Re: NSLIJ Plainview
Thank you. I just saw another post about this hospital. I had no idea.
I have another appointment in two weeks and will talk to the doctor then to find out if he is affiliated with any other hospitals. Otherwise I guess I'm headed for South Nassau.
