Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
LO is days away from being born and will now never get to meet great-grandma
DS had 2 years with her. I'm just sad this baby will never get a picture with her.

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
No.. but i'm still 28 days away.
I would just suggest letting them know about this person as much as you can and showing them pictures so they know who she is. Maybe point out similarities between them. I never knew my paternal grandparents but know about them.
Both my dad and DH's dad have been deceased for awhile so our LO will never know either grandfather. I never met my FIL but I'll let my LO know as much as he can about his maternal grandfather.

Yes, my brother. It's very important that you make sure you raise your baby with pictures and stories to keep her memory live.

I planned to tell both kids all about their great grandparents. It's just that with this LO due any day and my grandma passing away today, it's just upsetting.

Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
My cousin passed away when I was 12 weeks pregnant with my first daughter. I was absolutely devastated. I gave DD her name as a middle name and talk to her about it fairly often.

Sorry for your loss.
My grandfather passed away in my first trimester of my first pregnancy. I was so upset. We were very close and he LOVED babies, especially little girls. He would've adored DD.

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
Yes unfortunately. My mom passed away when I was 38 weeks pregnant with my dd. The hardest part for me was/still is knowing that my children will never know her and also knowing she would have adored them and been a kick ass grandma. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
Eta that I also gave my dd her grandmas name for her middle name as a way to honor her.

Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
So sorry for your loss
We lost one of our best friends a few weeks before DS was born. In fact, this friend was the one who set me and DH up. It was especially hard to know that he will never neet DS because in a way, he would have never been born if it wasn't for my friend. We have our friends spiderman statue in DS room and we will always make sure he knows all about his 'uncle mike'. Its obviously not the same but it gives me a sense of peace to know DS will 'know' him in some way.

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
Sorry for your loss. Dh lost his grandma 18 days before our dd was born. All she kept telling us was she was going to make it to see her first great grand child. I was convinced she would make it do it was very hard to get that call. We try to keep her memory alive by talking about her all the time and showing pictures to our girls.

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
My brother was tragically taken from us a little over a month before I found out I was pregnant. 2 months after I was pregnant my Nana passed away. It has been very hard & sad knowing that ds will never know his uncle or great grandma but we show him pictures of them & tell stories about them. Hopefully by doing this he will know how special they were.

My mom passed when i was 35 weeks pregnant. I gave birth at 37. It was hard. In honor of my mom we gave our daughter her name as middle name.
So sorry for your loss.

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
My grandma passed in April. It was really hard. The hardest things were opening up her shower gift she had already purchased, and knowing I will never have a picture of 4 generations of women,

Re: Ever lose someone close while pregnant?
DH just lost his beloved grandfather - he was 100. I think DH is taking it harder because he was so close to meeting our DC. We will keep his memory alive with our DC for sure.
