Considering she hasn't been seen in 6 years, I don't know how they could possibly be 100% sure the person they met with was the real Sherry Miscavige. But to me it seems the very strong hand of Scientology used their money and contacts to get this tossed to the side.

It's 6 years and not all of a sudden. Leah Remini is bringing it up again and the LAPD closed it saying the report is unfounded.
Apparently other members have reported her missing to the FBI, but they say they spoke to Mrs. Miscavige after investigating.
ETA: What kills me is the damn president of the United States has to prove to the PUBLIC to the MEDIA that he was born in the U.S. by providing a copy of his birth certificate, but these guys expect the world to take their word for it. "No, you can't see her, but she's fine! Trust us!" ::wink wink nudge nudge:: 
ETAA: I truly believe she's alive, probably in some cell somewhere with her eyelids pried open Clockwork Orange style and they trot her out whenever they need to like funerals or LAPD investigations.

Watch the videos posted. The south park one will tell you the basis of the cult beliefs, the one I posted goes into their corruption. But the jist is L Ron created a money making cult, that has made people who have head it very rich, and with money comes the desire of power. This cult takes money from anyone they can, separates them from their non scientologists family, and continues to steal until the people have nothing. If they don't control what gets out about them, how they do it, etc. They will lose their income.
L Ron himself was a pedofile, and an abuser. The whole foundation of Scientology is twisted.

OMG! Now I'm doing all this research on it bc I never knew anything about it before.
