baby furniture

thoughts on spending a lot of money on nursery furniture? I saw a set I loved in Behrs but it was very expensive. Do you think its worth spending a lot on furniture the kid may have til they move out or is it better to get cheap stuff that can be replaced as they get older?

Re: baby furniture

We just bought our 3rd set of furniture from Behr's. For us, we thought it made sense to spend a lot now and once. The sets we bought will be their sets forever. We saw no point in having to buy furniture twice, but that's just our opinion.

Same for us. Got our Munire Echelon set at Behr's. They also price match. Look for sales maybe around Labor Day.

We have to buy furniture later because we really need a bed with storage underneath due to the size of the room (like the kind that has dresser drawers underneath) so we went middle of the road with baby furniture hoping to use it with all kids and then unload it

Do not do it. The furniture takes quite a beating. Buy the good furniture when they go into a big kid bed.

We bought our set from there and I'm happy we did. We bought a convertible crib so it will grow with our child and we won't have to worry about buying a toddler bed and then a full size bed one day. After doing tons of research it does pay to go with a good quality set for so many reasons. Read the baby bargains book because that is what helped us.

Re: baby furniture

We didnt buy DS a super expensive set but it wasn't cheap either and its very well made. The crib turns into a toddler bed and a full size. This will be his furniture until he buys his own lol we will buying another set for this baby.

Re: baby furniture

we bought a Munire set from there as well and now the set will be used again for #3. it is still in perfect condition. once he grows out of the crib, we will still using it for a full bed. The dresser has not a single mark on it and it is 6.5 years old.

thanks ladies. I found the set for hundreds less at a place called paradise furniture on bell blvd in bayside queens. I kind of have my heart set on this furniture. A lot of places are showing dark wood and white and I found a nice natural color wood set. I feel like its furniture that can take a beating that he kid will have forever so it's worth it. my mom thinks I'm crazy lmao. I still have a month or two to keep looking though

Re: baby furniture

We got our Munire furniture (armoire, crib and dresser) from Behr's.
DS used it for 3+ years and just now moved to a big boy bed. This Chat Icon will now use it as his furniture. It was worth it to me (though I should add my mother gave us the furniture as a gift!!) As others have said, the crib can then be transitioned into a full size bed. We haven't done that for DS#1 only because his room isn't really conducive to fit a full size bed.

this! and plus, we spent so much on this munire set- like $3k by the time we were done and its complete crap- I'd get a nice reasonable set at BBB or BRU for under 1k if I had it to do over

We got DD#1 a nice set with all the pieces and lifetime crib. She is about to be 2 and her set looks brand new. We plan on using that for her until she moves out!! We are expecting DD#2 and just ordered her set this weekend with the same pieces. We look at it as an investment that with normal wear and tear will last.

This. Well, I don't know if it's well made because we're still waiting for it lol.
Oh, once he's ready for a larger bed, if there's another LO in the works we will buy him a seperate toddler/twin bed and use the crib for the new baby. I'd rather buy an actual bed then another crib.

I keep thinking about how I was with things when I was younger (heck, even now). My parents bought me an expensive gold brass twin bed after my crib and I destroyed the crap out of it!
I won't buy the baby the most expensive things.. but I def won't buy the cheapest.

Kids(babies) are kids and if this one is anything like me, his furniture will be a hot mess. If he's like DH the furniture will be polished and cleaned everyday lol.

my sisters got all their kids' furniture there. I def recommend them.

i hate the way the munire set I got at behr's has held up, besides the teeth marks all over the crib, the dresser scratched really easily and the knobs get loose all the time; we already had to replace. not worth it at all IMO. for the next one we are definitely going cheaper.

It just depends on what you want. For me, the crib and changer I wanted was dirt cheap, but it was exactly the style I had my heart set on. I personally didn't want to buy an expensive set now that could be used later on simply because I don't know if ill still want it down the road. My tastes might change when it comes time for big kid furniture.

We spent a pretty penny on our furniture. We figured it would be her furniture throughout childhood and adolescence. I figured it would be a better choice than buying 2-3 sets throughout life.

We ended up going with a set from Belini but our second choice was from Behrs.

So happy to hear that. we ordered Munire Medford for our little one. I hear its a grt brand. It didnt cost that much imo. crib double dresser and nightstand 1450 which includes set up. Adult rails another 200.
