Switching to sloane kettering?? (Ovarian cancer)
How would you do this?
Person has ovarian cancer She was diagnosed and her gyn referred her to a gyn oncologist, who then referred her to a dr for chemotherapy (couldnt do hysterectomy first because a small tumor was found in chest, so chemo first)
We arent sure she is getting the best care with this chemo dr. She has only had 1 chemo session, started retaining a lot more fluid so has already missed one session and possibly another.
Now, if she wanted to switch to sloane, how would this be done? She would want to avoid having to do all the testing she has had already (dont want to delay treatment anymore than she has now)
Anyone have a dr rec? Anyone have a chemo rec? Currently she is doing this all through LIJ
tIA
Feel free to FM me if you prefer

Re: Switching to sloane kettering?? (Ovarian cancer)
Get all of her medical records ready & call the main appointment number.
New patient info
You just have to tell them what you have & what treatment you have had so far & they will talk to you about insurance & set up an appointment.
If you don't have all the medical records that's ok, they will need them sent over at some point, but since she is in treatment already, having detail about that part is probably important.
She doesn't even have to call herself. My husband did it for me.

Absolutely have her go to Memorial Sloan Kettering. I was treated by them myself just last year for breast cancer. Also, I sent someone there once for brain cancer shortly after they were treated at a Long Island hospital, and MSK was unbelievably excellent. They found what the other hospital failed to removed, removed it and the person is still doing well ten years later.

I tried to do this with my father but they wanted to repeat all testing so we chose not to put him through it.

Switching to sloane kettering?? (Ovarian cancer)
When I wanted to take my mom there, first I had to forward all of her medical records to them so that they could review them. Then they called and offered to set up an appt and see her, but the appt was 3 weeks in the future. In the end it was a horrible experience for us because it was extremely stressful getting mom there and the dr had no compassion at all. But everyone's situation is different.

She can also consider Dr,Marc Citron in New Hyde Park. He provided top care to a family member .
