Feedback for New Hyde Park and Garden City Park neighborhoods

Hello. I am considering these two neighborhoods for our first home. Can you provide feedback on the following?

How walkable is the area to local supermarkets/restaurants/park? Is it really necessary to drive everywhere or can you accomplish some errands without car?

How would you rate the safety of the area in terms of crimes?

How would you rate the schools? I have researched greatschools website but hoping to hear direct feedback from people who lives or knows the area?

I grew up in NHP...my parents still live there...so do some of my childhood friends and my brother. Still a good, safe neighborhood (despite the recent police shooting..haha). My parents walk to places like the deli and produce stores along Hillside Ave and can also walk to Lake Success Shopping Center. Don't know how schools are now, but when I went they were good...my brothers and I all got scholarships for college. Had a great childhood growing up there!
