Cheap Furniture: Play room, family room, etc
How would you compare quality, price, overall value of Bob's, Ikea, Target, other?
Looking to get some stuff for kid-friendly rooms.

Re: Cheap Furniture: Play room, family room, etc
I have gotten my temporary living room furniture from Bob's. It's cheap and they're easy to deal with.
Ikea is a PITA because you have to deal with crowds, DH and I always get into a fight and then you have to put it together.
I haven't bought furniture from Target.

We bought stools for our island in our old kitchen at Target and the quality was wonderful, five years, used daily and no problem.

Bought a few things from Bobs for my apartment. They are great. I prefer Bobs over target (got a little bar from them that we had to put together) and Ikea. Everything comes assembled and they are great to work with.

If you're looking at target also look at Walmart and wayfair.com

Check Raymour and Flannigan clearance centers. I am looking for new sofas and went to bobs and found their stuff to just feel cheap. I went to R&F CC and the stuff felt comfy and durable and the prices were great, (ie $700 for a microfiber sofa and loveseat)

I agree with this... I had a kitchen table and 4 chairs from Ikea that I used every day for about 10 years, and it held up so well! When I decided to get a new kitchen table, I actually gave the 10 year old Ikea set to a family member, because it was still in really good condition, and it cost about $200 for the set, I think!
We also recently bought some stuff from Ikea for our DS's basement playroom (bookcases with toy bins), and I really like them.
I have never bought from Bob's, and I have bought a few things from Target (e.g. a storage ottoman/coffee table for my den). The Target stuff hasn't held up nearly as well as my Ikea stuff.

Ikea all the way. We had a couch from Bob's that didn't even last us a year. I've heard similar stuff about their bedroom furniture. We will never buy from them again. Most of my furniture is from Ikea, including SD's dresser which was originally mine as a kid (almost 20 years old) and it's held up incredibly well!! We had a TV console from Target and it was fine, but I can't say enough about the improved quality (and style) of Ikea.
Also, if you don't want to deal with putting it together, you can pay for a service who will do it for you (it's affiliated with Ikea).

Also try the JCPenney home store. I have several things in my house from their clearance products and they have worked out GREAT! It's hit or miss, but worth the look.

I bought a dining room set and a couch from Bob's. The table is beautiful but after 5 years, the chairs are falling apart. The couch we got recently and it was an awful experience. After one month, the stitching started to come of on the couch. I called and someone soon came out to sew it up. It looked awful. When I called to complain I got hung up on twice. Granted, I was not in a good mood, but isn't the customer always right? We wound up paying more for a better couch but I would never buy from there again. We have bought a bedroom set from IKEA years ago and it was great. We also bought a media table from Target and so far so good.

Re: Cheap Furniture: Play room, family room, etc
I have purchased inexpensive furniture from Bob's, Target & jennifer Convertibles. I had trouble with a few things from Bobs but they corrected everything. It was just a PITA waiting for stuff to get delivered again.
I just bought a few things, like accent chairs from Target online & I'm super happy with the value.
Overall my best experience for low cost furniture has been Jennifer, everything I buy from there lasts, is super comfortable & I love that some of it is very easy to move because it comes apart. The leather set I bought for my basement ten years ago, moved upstairs to my den a few years later & now my son has it at his house. Still going strong.

Our playroom/family room basement is all IKEA stuff—couch with chaise attached, media stand, end table, and desk. We've had it a few years and it still looks good.
