Planbooks?

Trying to figure out what planbook to buy this year in light of the new eval system (NYC but same issues prob apply to everyone) and demands from admin as to what they want to see in written plans. I didn't feel like I had enough room to write everything last year. Had all these charts and post-its and stuff all over my desk to supplement my planbook. So I was hoping to buy something better this year than the standard planbook I have used in the past. But I was underwhelmed by what I saw at the teacher store the other day. Any suggestions? Anyone make their own or order something customizable online?

This is a great question! Also what info do you put in yours? Do you put standards, just list things, etc.?

Re: Planbooks?

I do my plans on the computer...I have a weekly chart (its 3 pages long...2 days on each page)...I have objectives, standards, my "plan" and then an assessment and modifications (I'm a sped teacher)...For my ELA block (WW and RW), I have a separate plan where I write up my minilesson plan (each day is 1 page)...

My AP basically said the same thing. I will be using a binder this year. I made a few templates for different subjects that I'll be using.

Its a losing battle
Plus with the eval system if they come in to observe you, you have to have plans to show them. (This is what ive heard)

It stinks for elem teachers bc thats a lot of lessons to write for each day!

It's absurd to think this is going to actually work!

Yup! And with ready gen its all written out and we have been told we will need to write it up in a template. They just make us waste time that we could be using to be more prepared... Dumb!

I switched to a binder and now do all my plans on the computer. It's a template of boxes that spreads out over two pages. We have to have our plans available and out in case we get a pop in. The binder is so much easier. In addition to my plans, I have my RTI notes, data reports, F& P reading assessments. I have it divided into sections..

My colleague created a template that our whole grade uses. Some print and write in the boxes, I have it on my Zip drive and I type my plans. S much easier because then you an cut and paste and move things around easier.
