1st Birthday party ideas
I'm just trying to get ideas what everyone did for their child's first b'day. I was thinking of having my daughter's birthday party at place so that no mess is made at our house. For those of you that had it at a place, where and did you have any entertainment?
TIA!

1st Birthday party ideas
I haven't had one, but I don't think it's necessary to make it a 'child's' party, per se. At least in terms of entertainment. They are 1, they really won't know so much what's going on...its more a party for people to celebrate the child than for the child to know it's their birthday and what that means, KWIM?

Re: 1st Birthday party ideas
I had both of my DDs' parties at a VFW-type hall. I made/catered the food and brought in everything. I hired a DJ, like the PP said, more to entertain the guests.

i have 2 summer babies. so we had them both in the park, had about 100 ppl.
we didnt do a big christening (20 ppl) which is why we opted for the big birthday party,
after that we kept it to family parties and friend parties.

Re: 1st Birthday party ideas
I had my sons first birthday party in my moms backyard. We had a tent, tables and chairs. The way I saw it, he won't remember anything so it was more a party catering to the adults & that we survived that first year

When I had DS birthday, we had it at Sergio's in Massapequa. At the time, there were only about 5 kids who attended and they were all around 1 year old. There was one boy who had just turned 3, who was the oldest.
Having entertainment did not even cross my mind.
Now that he's older though, I definitely appreciate the entertainment if we are a guest.
We attended a 1-year-old party a few weeks ago. There were lots of kids there and they had Patsy the Clown for entertainment. I thought she was great and she and her staff really did well with keeping the kids entertained so the parents could mingle, eat and get a small break. It was at a firehouse too and at the end, the guys from the unit allowed the kids to take a tour of the trucks and such.

We're having it at a restaurant in a private party room. There will only be a few kids so we're not hiring entertainment for them.

Re: 1st Birthday party ideas
I'm thinking we'll only have about 25 people with just a handful of kids. So we were thinking of just having it at a restaurant and getting some activities to keep the kids occupied.

We had DD's at home with about 40 people. The majority of the kids that came were older 7+ so we didn't have any entertainment per se. However, we set up our Wii and Playstation for them in our basement, along with other games. We also had a photobooth set up which everyone seemed to love.

1st Birthday party ideas
My girlfriend just had her daughters 1st birthday in her backyard. There were about 50 guests and maybe 15 kids. She hired 2 clowns and they really kept the kids entertained! They even kept some of us adults entertained!! Let me know if you would like me to find out who she uses.

Re: 1st Birthday party ideas
i'm having it at my house/in my yard this fall. i'm going to get tents and heaters and have the food catered. aside from dd, i'm inviting 2 other one year olds, two 1.5yr olds, one 2yr old, two 5yr olds, an 8yr old, an 11yr old and a 13yr old. I really have no idea what kids will come... but I am thinking about hiring a mickey and/or Minnie mouse to come - although i'm not sure if they "entertain" the kids - but I figured that would distract them for a little while, they can take pics etc. and I was going to do goodie bags geared towards each kid and their age - and include maybe something crafty that could keep them occupied at the party for a bit. i'm only doing a 3 hour party.

1st Birthday party ideas
I am having ds birthday at a hall. I am having the food catered. It will be a circus theme, so I am having a clown, cotton candy maker, face painter, game stations, popcorn maker, and a bounce house if it will fit in the hall.
