Masters & student teaching
I have two initial certifications in two different content areas. I'm finishing up my masters in a third content area, I've been teaching a few years and I am recently tenured. The college I'm attending for my masters tells me that all grad students (whether currently teaching or not) still have to complete 100 hours of student teaching plus we have to complete a portfolio. In addition, we are not allowed to use hours from our current teaching positions, so we basically have to work our full time teaching jobs and also find time to student teach?? Does this sound about right? This seems like undergraduate all over again! Is this a new requirement or has it always been this way? When I first enrolled the chairperson told me over the phone that since I was currently working as a full time teacher, I could use my time in the classroom toward the 100 hours. I don't have this in writing though. I just don't see how student teaching can be done if we are already full time teachers. Any info./advice? TIA

Same here. I was also able to use some hours from summer school since it overlapped with when the semester was in session.
