New on board and need help!!!
Hello there! I just joined! I'm so happy that I found such a resourceful website for parents on Long Island! My name is Patti and me and my hubby have a 19 month old son! -- i uploaded a pic, i don't know if any of you can see it or not.. trying to still get used to this thing lol
anyway, I'm having trouble deciding between three daycare's, all of which we have to choose by the end of this week.
Teacher's Pet (Levittown) Tutor Time (Levittown) Kiddie Academy (Hicksville)
Teacher's Pet is relatively cheaper although i have an appt to meet with them tomorrow. I've already met with Kiddie Academy and tonight I will meet with Tutor Time.
I've seen tons of mixed reviews as well as corrected violations on the state website for all 3 daycare's. As parents I'm sure you can all agree that it's so hard choosing someone you don't know to care for your child. This is so hard! I don't want to put him in any danger whatsoever. We had a loving sitter for the past year but she is off to school, unexpectedly.
Anywhoo, has anyone ever taken their kids to these specific locations?? I've narrowed these 3 down from just about all over Nassau county and so far these are the best that fit mine and my husbands schedules.
If anyone has ANY info, it would be greatly appreciated! Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Re: New on board and need help!!!
I don't know about those places but this is how I narrowed down my choices when looking for an academic day care for PT hours:
--Location: what was going to work best for drop off and pick up?
--Violations: were there any repeat violations? Were the violations going to put her in harms way (repeated or not)? Was I satisfied with the director's answer to how the violations were corrected?
--Feel of the place: took a tour, saw the kids and teachers interacting, how did they receive DD as a visitor.
--Price: all of the ones I visited were within a few dollars of each other so didn't really have too much weight in my decision making.
Hope that helps!

Re: New on board and need help!!!
aww thanks so much! Yea we've been looking around at a lot of places and location, money and obviously TRUST is a big issue. These 3 seem to be the most fitting. We did ask about the violations because all of the daycares seem to have them. The violations fall into a generalized category when being inspected, so i guess i just have to pick and choose what's a major violation vs a minor. I also think that one minor incident to one parent can be a major one to another so thats where the mixed reviews come into play... its so hard! lol -- but i just have to trust my gut feeling I guess. We're seeing one more place and then we'll have to decide... anywhoo thanks so much for the feedback its much appreciated!
