Hair removal

Not sure if this is really "health" related, but I am looking into options for hair removal. Does anyone have any experience?

Embarrassing, but I hate how hairy my arms are, so that is the biggest reason I'm looking into it. I went for a free consultation at a laser place and the lady said since the hair is white (I am fair), laser hair removal most likely would not be successful for me. She said she would try a spot if I like, once I m no longer tan from the summer.

She also said a cream would probably work better.

Can anyone offer any advice? TIA!

Re: Hair removal

I haven't had it done but it is true that laser removal works best if you have dark hair and light skin or vice versa.
I happen to be fair with dark hair on my body so I am probably the perfect candidate.
I think she was being honest with you and you wouldn't want to waste your money.
Can you try something like Nair on your arms?

Hair removal

This is very true. It won't work on light hair. I do lazer and electrolysis (lazer for dark hairs and elec for eyebrows am lighter hair)
If you have a ton of hair electrolysis may take forever to get rid of but it works. I also recommend going to a reputable place that has the right equipment. I have heard horror stories and spas that rip people off and in the end it doesn't work.

Re: Hair removal

A friend just had laser hair removal on her underarms. She said it was painful and had to keep ice packs under her arms for almost an entire weekend before she was ok again.

Kinda worries me because I was considering doing my lip. For as hairy as I am, I don't get that much hair there but it's enough to notice when I haven't waxed. Especially in that damn rearview mirror! haha I now keep tweezers in the car
