Electrolyte supplements/drinks
For your 1hr+ runs, what do you use?
I've been using NUUN, but figured I'd ask if anyone has a favorite.

Re: Electrolyte supplements/drinks
honestly - whatever is on sale. Gatorade, powerade, etc I think it helps to change it up, b/c you never know what will be available for races
I do like Gatorade Prime. I freeze them for really long runs and drink the slush over the first mile.

Re: Electrolyte supplements/drinks
I actually was planning on just using my own water belt. Do people not do that?
I didn't really want to add calories thru a drink, that's why I tried the NUUN, it's 8cals for 1 tablet. I'm at 10 miles and barely sip a couple of oz during.
Any thoughts on one over the other?

Re: Electrolyte supplements/drinks
You can use your own belt, many people wear them. but I read somewhere that extra weight can add time, so I never do at races.
I don't really bring fuel with me on runs unless it's really hot or 12+ (but today I did 15, without anything - just a few sips of water - probably not smart, but I forgot my bottle)
I don't like GUs/gels, so I would rather get my calories through drink.
Are you training for a half or full? For half, I only do drinks - full I add chomps/beans. But my stomach is pretty strong...you have to see what works for you.

Re: Electrolyte supplements/drinks
I am doing a 1/2 So maybe if I don't wear it, I can go quicker than my 9:30mile not sure it'll make the difference.
My stomach can be weird, so I'm afraid to try something new. I plan to train to 12miles so I feel comfortable with the final 1.1.
ETA: it got cooler here too. Friday when I ran the 10 I was barely sweaty, not the dripping I was in prior weeks.

I believe it's 2 seconds faster per mile for every pound. So it depends on how much you carry.

Re: Electrolyte supplements/drinks
I usually use Coconut water as my "gatorade". I keep it in the transition area during my triathlons but you can maybe fill one of your water pouches with it and then the other with regular water.
