Newborn Shoots...
I am still like 4 seconds pregnant at 6 weeks. But when do people book Newborn shoots typically, how much do they cost, and who is awesome?

I would book as early possible to make sure you get the photographer you want.
Some things to consider when looking at photogs would be:
Price
On-site or home location
Minimum package orders
I ended up going with Brilianna, but I was also looking at Melanie Beth. Both were within my price range of $400-$600.

i think i booked both times about 5 months in advance just to ensure i got the person i wanted. I use Anne Hack for everything - newborn shoots, christmas photos, birthdays, etc. She's affordable and shes great with babies

I just used Elizabeth Kristin Photography, we love her! I just posted some pics the other day. She is so sweet and very reasonable and her pics are amazing!

This. I booked over 6 months out for my due date. I used Katie Burnett. She was amazing. Came to the house at no extra charge. Was here the whole day. Dd was a dream during the shoot thanks to Katie. Pics were amazing and prices were reasonable.

Newborn Shoots...
You should book around 12 weeks. Newborn shoots take longer to do -- sometimes up to 3 hours -- and so they book up much quicker than family photo shoots.
I'm using SummerLyn because we used her with DS#1 and I love her! She is $$$ because of her experience but I've been saving up because it's worth it. Her website lists her pricing.
