Lovenox Ladies
Good morning :) I had my 12 week OB appt last week and talked to the doc about my Lovenox injections. He recommended I move to injecting in my thigh because as the baby grows he wants to ensure the needle doesn't go near the uterus, etc.
Two things:
1) I read online that there is no proof that Lovenox is as effective when given in the thigh. Lovenox website only instructs to inject in the abdomen.
2) Does the needle really get that far in? I just never heard of this being an issue before.
Has anyone heard anything like this and/or switched to thigh injections?
Any info/advice would be appreciated! TIA!!

I have always injected in stomach until my skin got tighter and less pliable as the baby grew, then I move to my love handles/hips. The needle will not puncture the uterus...it is so small.

You will never even come close to the uterus. I would question my choice of OBs if they really believe that the tiny needle can reach that far.

Re: Lovenox Ladies
Thanks ladies.
I also agree that what he said didn't make sense - which is why I looked it up and reached out here before actually switching the injection location.
Fortunately, I am switching OBs :) - I am stuck with him at the moment due to some insurance things but am currently looking for someone new to switch to as soon as ins is straightened out.

Re: Lovenox Ladies
As someone who has medical issues since I'm very young I can tell you this pales in comparison to the ridiculous things I've heard a multitude of doctors say over the years. Reminds me of a post I read on here once where someone said you have to trust your doctor...to that I say no way - or at minimum trust but verify! I take notes at every appt...and do my own research after.

Re: Lovenox Ladies
Crashing but I took lovenox while pregnant and gave it to myself in the thigh. Winthrop told me to do this bc it is easier to inject then in your belly. I had a positive experience doing it this way. It was effective, so no need to worry about effectiveness.
