so..how is everyone holding up so far?
I'm usually running around like a mad woman in the mornings - no matter how much I prepare the night before. Every day is a mad dash to the bus. My toddler is a crankypants in the mornings & dragging him to the bus stop with me is BRUTAL. He wants to be carried and he's so damn heavy and the stop is all the way at the end of our block.
My kid is no longer a cranky monster after school - yay! I guess he got used to the schedule.
Homework is simple...only HW assigned Monday - Thursday so far...just not something I'm in the mood to oversee after a long day at work, but that's life!
He has bought lunch a few times and loved it. One day was pancakes...and $2 for lunch? I remember when it used to be $1.25! But it makes it easier, to be honest - except now he wants to buy ice cream, too.
all in all...pretty good.
how are you guys doing?

if the class mothers would stop emailing me, seriously, about 7-10 times every single day, I would be doing awesome.

There has been an enormous turn around from last year. DS loves his teacher. I can see that he is both learning new things and is excited about it. Home work is no longer pulling teeth like last year. Such a better experience that I. hope continues.

Bout of separation sadness (DD was in pre-k last yr so I dont know why now) and a lil cranky right before dinner BUT bedtime is easy peasy now that kids are wiped out. My 5yr old is learning Spanish so its pretty cool ti hear new words.

My son did this last week...Weds as he was walking on the bus, he turned to me and said Im not going and started hysterically crying. Said he just wanted to spend time with me I drove him to school, and left him with one of the teachers, crying. He only cried for a few minutes. That night and next morning he was crying and insistent that he was not going to school, his head hurt, he didnt miss me, but when his head hurt, it made him think of me Drove him to school bc I didn't want him misbehaving on bus, handed him over to same teacher...he kicked and screamed for 30 minutes, even kicked his shoes off.
I called the pyschologist and she said I was doing the right thing, and to just keep on doing it, that they are prepared to deal with it (which I know they are, I've dealt with a few cryers and screamers myself!). He got off the bus that day, and I knew something was different. I said, if this was the last of it, we don't even have to talk about what happened today. Since then, hes been getting on the bus fine. I also started a reward system (just in case) where if he gets 5 stickers for getting on the bus each week, he gets to sleep at my parents Friday night.
Good luck

Re: so..how is everyone holding up so far?
I just want to say - I am a class mom. I have yet to email the class as I don't have their email addresses. One of my main jobs will be to forward emails from the PTA to the class. What I do is wait until the end of the day to forward all of the days emails to the parents. It is a fine line - and there are some days where I am getting 5 emails from the PTA. No one wants to get 5 emails from me about this so I create a list saying read below these are the 5 topics and then I cut and paste the text of the emails below. I know that last year there were complaints from other classes that they never received any of the info. Of course time sensitive info is sent out ASAP.

Same ! We must be in the same district because this is the most expensive lunch I've heard of so far
Also class mom and haven't sent anything.
Ds is doing well, he really likes school and his teacher. He is very tired when he gets off the bus. I wanted to sign him up for after school activities, but he is kind of a tired mess when he gets home.

Ugh, it's so hard. We have so much going on here (I'm due any day and DH has surgery coming up and isn't the same Dad as he had been) that I feel like pushing him to leave me might be more traumatizing? Idk, I called the school psychologist and am waiting for her to call back, but yesterday they had to call one of his older siblings out of the class to come and calm him down when he was crying for me.

Re: so..how is everyone holding up so far?
Too much homework!!!!!
I sent in a note this morning, that he wasn't able to finish his work assigments for the week, because he falls asleep at 6:15 everyday. At 4, I 'd rather him have dinner and a bath, than cut and paste what objects are found at the library and grocery store.
Flame away!!!!

Dd loves school thank God. Sometimes on the way to the bus stop she tells me all sad she's gonna miss me and dosnt wanna go but I think it's more of her looking for me to coddle her. Hw is a breeze, we are done with it in like 2 min every night. And I love having the days to myself but since I'm 6 months pregnant those days are numbered lol
