WWYD in regards to coming out at work

I am currently 9+ weeks with my second and I just can't decide when to come out to my managers. I work at a very relaxed start- up environment and have two young guy managers with whom I'm very friendly and one of them just had a baby this week, so I know they'll be happy for me. I am also so incredibly sick all day long that I feel that telling them might be better than just being in the very visibly miserable state I'm in without an actual explanation... The problem is, I have my yearly review next month and will probably be up for a promotion and I'm super nervous that this will swing their decision and they might think that with the pregnancy/ maternity leave and two young kids at home I won't be up for it... So if you were in my shoes, would you wait till after the review or just go ahead and tell them and hope for the best?

as long as you are not showing yet, i would wait. at least then you know the review will be unbiased....otherwise you will always think maybe it had something to do with your news

but thats just me. im very private and cautious, in general.

This. If you weren't going to have the review, I would probably have told them now.

i would wait, wouldn't say anything until you visibly start to show.
when i was pregnant with DD, i really didn't start to show until well past 6 months and the only reason i came out to them was because if i waited until i really started to show...it would have left them with little to no time to find a replacement!

Why did you feel that you had to wait that long? Were you afraid they would treat you differently?

Hmm, I think I would wait the month out just in case. I came out at around 13w at work so it would be around that time for you too if you wait

It will actually probably be around 16 weeks which makes me nervous that I won't make it anyway... But I guess I can try and wait it out

9 weeks is still really early...

I didn't tell my job until I was 5 months. I wasn't showing plus I just don't like people all up in my business. Esp my nosy boss!

Yea I would wait until after the review. It's only one more month- you can do it! And if you get that promotion, it would look really bad on their part to take it away from you after you tell them.

If you feel being sick all day is affecting your work I would tell your bosses- If you are up for review and they see a change in your overall demeanor it may impact your evaluation.

If your questioning it, I think you should wait. Don't rush it. Wait until you are 100 percent ready.

This. And if you weren't having a review, I'd still wait until after the NT scan.

Thanks ladies! I guess the overall consensus is to wait so I'll try to do that as long as I can.

I waited until after the NT scan at 12 weeks. If you're not showing, I'd wait. No need to come clean so soon. I'm almost 22 weeks now and some co-workers are JUST finding out, lol.

WWYD in regards to coming out at work

I told my boss around 16 weeks just because I didn't feel like telling her sooner -- despite knowing that my absence on maternity leave will be a BIG headache as I'm a supervisor myself and directly responsible for the rest of the staff here.

If you are really sick or exhausted, then you might want to consider telling them sooner. I'd take it day-by-day. You'll know when it's right.

I think if you wear the right clothes you can totally hide it, especially with the cooler weather starting soon. Ruffly blouses (they usually have tons at The Loft) are amazing for hiding a bump. I would really try to wait until after your review. Congrats and good luck!

Thank you all for your advice! I'm definitely going to try holding out for another month of so. Already made it this far with being sick beyond my mind no point giving up now :)

WWYD in regards to coming out at work

I am 10+ weeks and waiting as long as possible. I have my NT scan in less than 2 weeks, but will probably still hold out. I think some people might already have an inkling since I bloat very easily now and my entire wardrobe is very form fitting.
