Gotta say Legos. It is really the only thing my 6 yr old plays with. He also watches movies, reads books and sometimes plays with superhero imaginext stuff .

My DS is 6 and he plays with legos too. He likes the Chima series. He also received a magic set for his birthday and he likes that too.
ETA: DS also likes beyblades and beyblades warriors. We got a free set of them from chatterbox as a toy tester and he plays with them all of the time.

My son likes legos, board games and anything science-y. Game stop, toys r us and target gift cards are always great.

Ugh...I hate Legos! So I try to avoid buying them because I imagine all the other moms hate them too  But I guess not! Thanks for the advice!

My 6 yr old likes legos, any batman, spiderman, iron man toy. He is also into Bey Blades because my older son likes them. I think you'll be fine if you just include a gift reciept on the off chance that they want to exchange it.
(BTW, I'm with you...I secretly hate legos, those stupid super small pieces always get caught in the carpet and I tend to find them when I vacuum. Whenever the boys save money it's the first thing they want to get. I try not to fight it because it helps with fine motor skills and it can occupy them for hours)

I HATE Legos too!! I have avoided buying them for the older boys bc I tell them the pieces are too small for their little brothers. They LOVED playing with the Duplo when younger, so now I feel bad that I am not giving them the Lego experience

Knex sets are a great alternative to Lego. My DS likes them even more than Legos actually.
