I have horrible teeth and horrible anxiety about going to the dentist. I had a bad experience when I was younger and have refused to return. my teeth are getting worse and I most likely will need a few pulled and id like implants. please recommend a dentist that will nof make me.feel crappy about my teeth and who does excellent work. I am in holtsville but will def travel. thanks

My dentist specializes in patients who have dental phobia. They are excellent. See Dr Mark Slovin. He is extremely gentle! He's in Islip.

Check out their website. He has a section for dental phobia

I hate the dentist.
But I love Dr. Andrew Georgakopoulos D.D.S. from Sachem Dental in Lake Ronkonkoma. The sweetest, most gentle dentist I've been to.

I really like Broadhollow Dentistry on Rt. 110 in Melville (it's right by the LIE) -- Dr. Erin Thomas. Depending on how great your fear is, they offer sedation dentistry.

I was exact same way.. Went years and years without going to dentist out of fear . Six years ago I was getting married and decided to find a dentist. I found the BEST dentist. Her name is dr Anne Lombardi in west Hempstead. She is a kind and gentle Italian lady! She worked with me over four years helping me keep within my budget!

Rapaelson Dental Associates

Located in Deer Park

I have pretty crappy teeth myself. Need lots of work and no, they did not make me feel bad about it at all. Reception, to the hygienist and all dentists (the also have root canal specialists on staff) are caring and very friendly.

They take a lot of different insurances and also EDP (which is what I have) They also have payment plans. Interest free for I think up to 6 months.

I have recommended them to so many people and every single person has been very happy.

I really liked Kristin leis at sachem dental. I saw her in the nesconset office but I'm not sure if she travels to the others.

I know exactly what you are going through. Comfort Dental @ Glen Cove. Entire office is staff and Dr.'s are so caring and understanding. My entire family goes there. I had an implant done in their office as well. They took my insurance to.

You will be in good hands.

Good Luck.

Re: dentist recommendations needed please

I have had problems in the past. I hadn't been to a dentist in like 5+ years. Now I go and I am never scared because I like where I go.

I go to Patchogue family dental. Everyone from the receptionist to any of the dentists have been super nice and caring.

The dentist even called after I had a cavity filled to make sure I was ok.

I just got in from the dentist.
I switched over to Dr. Bonnie Helfner in Commack (on Commack Road).
I HATED going to the dentist and my mouth needed a ton of work (still doing work) and I have never been so happy I made the switch!
Every person that works there is amazing.

I always had a slight fear of the dentist but someone recommended Holly Burns in Huntington. She might be a hike for you but she is serioulsy awesome and the staff is great. I usually need to get numbed for cleanings in the beginning but my teeth are better and I dont need to anymore.

Dr. Plosky in Huntington Station. The best! He even called me on a Sunday to see how I was doing. He and his staff are caring and so compassionate. I cant imagine going to any other dentist.

I could have written your exact post (except for the implant part) and know exactly what you are going through. I had a horrible experience when I was a kid and it really screwed me up for all future dental work. I just went back last week to get a cleaning that was 15-20 years over due, get a check-up, and then back again for fillings. Find the right doctor and it will be fine, trust me. I am going for my third visit in two weeks tomorrow because I just want to be able to know my teeth are fine...good luck!

I've been in the field for over 25 years. I "know" just about every dentist/practice on LI.
I have recommended dr Colleen Catera in west Babylon to other LIFers that wanted someone honest, caring, nonjudgmental and above all an excellent dentist.
She's a graduate of uninversity of Pennsylvania and she's one of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet.
If you decide to try her just tell her Kelly sent you and she will extend every professional courtesy possible.

I saved this thread for DH but I ended up needing to use it first. I think I need a root canal. I made an appointment with these dentists. Wish me luck!
