2 Month Vaccination
I was informed that Dr. Eisenberg does 5 vaccinations in one shot... I don't like the sound of that... It happened so fast I didn't even get a chance to ask if I can have them given separately? Anyone know about these 5 vaccinations in one? Dangerous?

2 Month Vaccination
Ive never heard of that before but i would personally switch peds. My peds tells me which shot he is doing first, explains in detail what its for, what it prevents, possible side effects and asks if i am ok with it. My peds also doesnt give more than 2 per visit for any of his patients.
I would never stand for a dr doing anything to my child without explaining first asking for permission to go ahead.and making sure im comfortablw with it. Vaccinations in general are a controversal issue and one to be taken seriously. Along with a personal decision as to what each family feels comfortable with. My dd only gets 1 shot per month.
Eta: your son is 2 months old and got 5 vaccinations in. 1 shot? Like all in 1 syringe?

Re: 2 Month Vaccination
According to the CDC website at 2 months they would get 5 vaccinations. I do believe they make a combination vaccine for some of them but I have no experience with it because my ped gives them separate.

Re: 2 Month Vaccination
I go to Dr Eisenberg and it's never 5 shots at once, if that's what you mean. He doesnt do more than 2 shots/ visit. I have no problem with giving vaccines on time, and I trust Dr Eisenberg's vaccination schedule. I consider the DTap 1 vaccine, although technically it's for 3 things, maybe I'm wrong to think of it that way, but like I said, I do not believe in delaying vaccines.

I saw Dr. Patel when I was there... I repeated to her 5 vaccinations in one shot? Is that new? She said they've been doing it for a long time now... My DH was there with me and came to the same conclusion as me... I'm going to call on Monday but I'm having anxiety about this

Re: 2 Month Vaccination
info on combo shots
For ds and dd I did not give them the hep bshot in the hospital. Their Dr gave them Pediarix which is a 5 in 1 combo a vaccine for dtap, hep b and polio.
There's also pentacel which is dtap, polio and hib.
Depending if your baby had hep b in hospital would depend which 5 in 1 they're getting.
Both ds and dd had minor fevers from the pediarix. Under 101

Re: 2 Month Vaccination
DS was supposed to get a combo shot today (pentacle or something...?) but due to a shortage he had to be given three separate needles.

I declined Hep B on the hospital, so DD must have gotten the 5 in 1 then. Like I said, it doesn't bother me and she had absolutely no reactions to any of her vaccines.

2 Month Vaccination
Combination vaccines have been around for a long time, even from when we were kids. Both Pentacel and Pediadrix are 5 shots in 1. One is DTap+Polio+Hib and the other is DTaP+Polio+Hep B. Using either of these vaccines saves your kid 2 shots.
The AAP recommended safe vaccine schedule at 2 months: rota (oral), IPV, DTaP, Prevnar, Hib, Hep B. Using Pentacel or pediarix cuts this down from 5 shots to 3.

2 Month Vaccination
I actually didn't realize how many vaccines was in the combo after I found out I was not happy. When I went to get her shots yesterday they were out the combo and they wanted to give her 3 shots and an oral. I only gave her oral and 1 shot and Dh will take her next week to get the other 2. I'm not comfortable with all of these vaccines to begin with so I plan to just stagger them.

So it's okay to get combo vaccines?
IMO, yes. I trust my Doctor.
My DD got all her shots on time. She's now 28 months and has been sick literally twice, and has never had to take an antibiotic. I'm not saying its because of the vaccines, but I think she has a great immune system for MANY reasons, including the fact that I didn't shelter her from vaccines.

I agree. I followed my Pediatricians vax schedule & my DD will be 6 in Dec. & has never been on antibiotics (knock on wood). She did well with vaccinations. Will do same for my new baby.

It is scary, especially when you hear 5 shots in one. I freaked out too, thinking she might OD or something. But when we went back for her 4 month and they ran out of the combo shots, it was really difficult seeing her get stabbed so much. That was the only time she bruised and swelled a little.

It's good to ask questions and be informed. I used to be unsure about vaccinations, but once I learned that the guy who did the study linking vaccinations to autism lied, fabricated results, and lost his license, I was no longer concerned. No doctor wants to be sued or be responsible for harming a child, so if my Dr says the 5 in 1 is ok, then trust him because he studied medicine and I didn't. There are other things I question/ disagree with him on, but they are more parenting style issues and not medical issues.
HTH.

I agree with don;t be afraid to ask questions.
I am on schedule with all of DS vaccines almost. My Dr will not give any shots if he is sick. DS had some colds the first year so he was slightly delayed.
We do get the combo shots and I like them better then having multiple sticks or bringing him back more....we get charged for copays then and it will end up beign tons of money.
My DS has only had the occasional cold and now from 13-22 months he has only had the sniffles and never more. I think it has to do with the fact I don;t shelter him and keep on top of vaccines and flu shot.
