Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
I'm returning to work in less than 3 weeks after maternity leave. Needless to say, I'm feeling a host of emotions but I want to look presentable instead of frumpy and blah. I'm hoping the old saying, look good, feel good is true.
I literally want a 3 minute makeup routine. I don't wear anything to work but want to look polished. What do you suggest? I wear glasses so not too concerned with eyes. The goal is polished and professional.
My hair drives me nuts. It's fine and frizzy and I usually can't be bothered and throw it up in a pony tail. I want to do a keratin treatment but my hair dresser said not until I'm done bf'ing. Any suggestions for hair products or just general tips on what to do with it/how to wear it.
Thanks.

Make up: Moisturize Brush Teeth Foundation or BB or CC cream blush lipgloss mascara
Hair: Wash the night before Do you think you would benefit from a creme treatment?

This sounds doable even for me!!
Hmm, what kind of creme treatment? I'm intrigued.

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
How about a BB cream? It's light coverage, very natural but it enhances your skin tone and it's multitasking. Then a sweep of bronzer or blush on your checkbones and some lip gloss. I know you said no eye makeup, but just a few coats of mascara will really open up your eyes and make you look more 'done'. You can also do a quick eyeliner on your lower lash liine. That's all I do
As for hair, I can't speak to that because I too have very fine hair so I spend a lot of time and effort with extensions, curling irons, etc- def not simple!

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
What's the difference between BB and CC cream? I have the Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer and it's ok. It doesn't provide a lot of coverage.
I'm not a huge fan of mascara but it may be worth trying. My lashes are not thick and I find mascara to be goopy, for lack of a better word. I'm probably not using the right one.
The irony is that I have a ton of makeup but really only wear it for a date night, party, or event.

My go to mascara is Lancome Difinicils. Right now I am using a Bare Minerals one and it is good too. I got it at Costco for $13 so for the price I love it.

Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
tinted moisturizer cream blush coat of mascara lips
As for hair, I wash my hair at night, do a quick blow out, and in the morning, use the flat iron or instyler to smooth it out. I resorted to a lot of buns after ds was born.

I think simple makeup and jewelry, a good haircut, good shoes, neat, fitted clothes, and good posture are the key to looking polished!
Hair: just make sure you have a good cut that shapes your face and blow it straight the night before if you can.
Makeup: my routine is moisturizer, eye concealer, 1 shadow, eyeliner, bronzer or blush on cheeks only. It takes 2 minutes.
I don't wear anything on my lips regularly, but I carry sheer gloss, a lip pencil and a matte color that is long-lasting. I apply only if I'm going to be in an important meeting, etc.

This is my exact routine...except i brush my teeth first. LOL oh and I add a pressed powder after the BB just to give a matte look.

Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
Moisturize Brush Teeth Tinted moisturizer (I have dry skin so I need to still moisturize first if your not dry then skip moisturizer) Mascara Blush Pressed powder very light just to matte down the tinted moist and set it
And maybe instead of a plain ponytail you can do a bun. OR if its a plain ponytail make sure its polished as well. No bumps no stray hairs

mine is similiar. i use mac tinted moisturizer, mac all that glitters all over the lid, mascara, mac blush in sunbasque and done. literally takes 2 minutes. hair, mine is curly so i basically wash every 3 days and on the days i'm not washing i spray bottle it to death and put more crap in it. that takes longer than the make up!

Thanks so much everyone! Very helpful and I appreciate the replies. I'm incredibly sad about leaving DD but hopefully my returning to work will get us into a good routine.

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
I just returned to work from maternity leave and I greatly simplified my routine and still look more or less the same.
1) I wash my hair at night and only wash it 2-3 times a week. I give myself a nice blowout at night and it lasts easily for 2 days, and often 3. So my hair always looks professional and I don't have to do anything but brush it in the morning. Plus taking a nice shower at night turns out to be very relaxing and a little bit of "me" time! I still taking a quick morning shower but just use a showercap and touch up the hairline if necessary.
2) For makeup, I use a primer, a powder foundation, eyeliner, mascara, blush and lipstick (and coverup if necessary). This takes about 5 minutes. Blush and lipstick can be put on while I commute if necessary.
3) Lay clothes out the night before so you don't have to think!

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
Oh and try the KMS California Frizz tamer line - I just started using it and my blowouts look much better. The shampoo, conditioner and tamer cream.
I also have thick frizzy curly hair -- so I would normally have to get it wet at least every day to look even halfway presentable.

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
I think a ponytail can look polished and professional .......just take a few minutes to smooth it out, or put it up in a NEAT bun (not our usual get my hair the hell out of my face messy buns)
As for makeup - BB cream, blush, mascara and neat brows. - gloss or balm.

Physicians Formula makes a BB powder. I love it bc you just swipe it on quickly and it really evens out your skin tone. After that I usually just curl my lashes, do a quick swipe of mascara (I always use waterproof so it doesn't smudge) and a little blush. It all takes me a minute or so.

Re: Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
I don't do makeup every day because I get SO LAZY.. but for the days where I'm put together, it's pretty quick.
Brush teeth Face cream (I use Pond's) Mac Foundation Quick sweep of bronzer A little blush on the cheeks Liquid eyeliner on top Mascara Lipgloss DONE!
For hair, I usually: A) Wash it in the morning and put it in a bun. Hairspray & done
B)Wash it at night, add mousse + hairspray. Put it in a messy bun. In the morning, I just let it out and it's curly. Quick hairspray and I'm done.

Simple Hair and Makeup Routine
My makeup routine during the work week, even before DD was:
Mosturizer Blush Mascara Lip Gloss
As far as hair goes, my hair is wavy, straight & frizzy. I shower at night and apply the Garnier Sleek & Shine serum. Let hair somewhat dry, and put in a bun. Next morning it has a nice wavy to it.
