Lost DH's cousin- who do we each lean on?

DH's cousin passed away 2 days ago. This sudden and tragic loss of such a young man is crushing our family. DH and this guy grew up like brothers and were so close. I've been around his family for 21 years, so we were all together.

We are devastated- and he can't talk to me about it because I cry and I can't talk to him like I need to. We've been bickering since his passing, even though we are both distraught. We have a great marriage and always lean on each other for support.... but who do we turn to now?

So sorry for your loss Chat Icon

Would he consider going to a bereavement group? I know many churches offer them, and I was recently at a Special Needs expo and happened to meet a Bereavement counselor for children, but she said she works with the whole family. (are there children in the family as well ?)
I believe she was with Mather Hospital in Port Jeff.
I can look for the info if you'd like.

Maybe between you and your hubby, you can write eachother simple notes just to get your feelings out, and from there might initiate more conversation about his cousin. (not sure if that's what you meant, in terms of someone to turn to, in regards to opening up about his cousin ?)

many hugs, the loss of a loved one is so so hard. Chat Icon

Thanks so much for your response. I hadn't even seen it till now. Things are a little better with time. While we still grieve, we aren't bickering as much. Our church has a nice support group we may look into before the holidays. This will be hard.
