10K race
I’m signing up for my first 10K for the end of November. What did you do to prepare for a 10k regarding diet and how did you increase your miles and time? Right now I’m doing a steady 2.5-3 miles a run, depending if I’m outside or on a treadmill. I’m registered for a couple of 5Ks and am signing up for a 4 mile run leading up to the 10K. I’m following the c10k app but it only increases by 2/3 minutes a week at a time. I will not complete the c10k by the 10K so is there another source you use to train?
And not sure if I mentioned this on here or not but the week of the 10K (Sunday) is also a 5 mile turkey trot on Thanksgiving. Will this be too much to do in one week? I think I can handle it but just scared of the unknown… I did the trot last year and wanted to die at the end but I wasn’t as physically and mentally prepared as I am now. The worst that can happen is that I have to walk some of it.

10K race
I think having the 4 miler scheduled before the 5 miler and 10K is a great strategy. Not sure how many weeks/days ahead of the 5 miler and 10K the 4 mile race is on but if you have a week or more in between shoot to run 4.5-5 on your own and make sure you stretch.
I totally think given your base you can do the 5 miler and 10K in the same week. I might take off friday and do a short shake out run saturday (like 10-15 mins) and stretch well. Also just stay super hydrated. I think you will do great and like you said worst case you walk through some of the water stops. I hope this helps a little bit and good luck!!

Thanks for the help. I have to check the dates but I think it's more than 2 weeks before the 10K that the 4 mile run is. I definitely want to add more miles as I want to do a half in the Spring
