Poll: Need travel advice with family
DH and I have a disagreement regarding our upcoming trip to Disney in December.
We are driving from NY with infant and toddler and one set of our parents will be down there overlapping our trip by a day.We usually see them every other weekend.
We are disagreeing on meeting up with them for breakfast at a restaurant the beginning of our drive back.
One side thinks that its not much extra time to take.
Other side wants to make faster time on the way back due to infant and working the day after return.
ETA- Maybe a 15 minute detour on road, plus maybe an hour? for greetings/service/departure?
Driving back in 2 days.

if you already see them so often, i wouldn't try to plan something on the road. it would be a hassle in my opinion. if it was a rare chance to see them, then i would def. try to schedule it and make it work. so based on your circumstances, no. but in a slightly different scenario, yes.

How much earlier would you be leaving if you don't do breakfast with them?

I think it would depend on how much time is being lost meeting them for breakfast. If it's just an hour - than not a big deal. If it's like 5 hours - then absolutely not.

And it might do the kids some good to get out of the car and stretch their legs. See some new faces. give you a lil break since they will be occupied with grandparents.
I totally get how you feel this is DEF something my in laws would want and I would be annoyed cause they see the kids enough. BUT if it makes everyone happy, really what is the harm? Your kids will be ok. No one getting hurt, thats most important.
Sometimes you gotta pick and choose your battles. Also why let these lil things get the best of you and waste your energy on it.

I wouldn't want to, especially being that you see them plenty. Even if it took an extra 30 minutes over what it would take to have a quick breakfast on your own, I'd rather have that at home. If it ended up more than that, like having to wait around for them or getting back out the door getting dragged out I would be really unhappy.

If you see them every other weekend, I see no point in meeting up for an hour for breakfast -
I thought you were going to say you were disagreeing on letting them come w/ you for a day @ Disney .......
Breakfast? Skip it and just get home.
