Rec your Lice Prevention products, specifically use on coats/backpacks/carseats
I'm so skeeved to even deal with this.
In our schools a kids with live lice can be in the class, as long as it's being treated.  and letters no longer go home...thankfully I'm a "grandparent" for the class & chatty with the teacher, so I know we have a case.
I'm currently using Suave's lavender shampoo & Cond per recs here. I'm also spraying with hairspray, but wanted to see what others recommend? Is there a spray for their backpacks/coats/carseat?
I want to nip things before they have a chance!!!

Rosemary Mint is what you should be using by Suave. I spray fairytales on her bag and her coat goes in her bag. Gross that they allow live lice!

Oh ick. Fairy Licemother's products in general are good. You can also use a diluted tea tree oil to spray. Keep her hair in braids/buns and keep it sprayed down. You can throw the backpack and coat in the dryer for a few minutes every night. GL!

DS has already had two cases of lice in his class and one girl sat at his table  I bought all the fairy tales products I am SO SUPER paranoid of LICE! I put the fairytales gel in his hair and my younger DD's every day. I make sure it gets on the back of his neck and behind his ears too! I also spray the fairy tales on his backpack, Jacket, Hat, Shoulders etc. When he comes home backpack and jacket go in the garage until the next day! All his clothes go into the wash. I'm neurotic about this! I have PTSD from when I was little and had to chop off all my hair

Yes, I bought bottles & bottled of the rosemary mint when I heard hear about it.
I'm itching at the thought!!!
I'll get that spray!
She loves her long hair, so I always have it up, braided, & I spray it every morning.
ETA: now I'm thinking of keeping the coat/backpack in the garage?
Thankful her teacher is so aware of this & gets any coats/sweatshirts out of the room & to their hall hooks.

Many Harmon drugs in Bed Bath and Beyond has the Fairytale line and you can use the 20% off coupon. It's also available at Ulta.

DD , along with 3 other girls in her class had lice 2 weeks ago. The cleaning of the house and hair was absolutely exhausting. I got called to pick her up on Friday and had to bring her back to the nurse to be cleared to go back to school on Monday.
The nurse said regular hair spray is a preventative too. I don't like the smell of the rosemary spray, but I do use the shampoo and conditioner from Suave. So I just use Auusie hairspray and some days she wears a ponytail. DD has sensory disorder so it's very difficult to make this poor kid wear her hair back everyday ,she hates it. And NO HUGGING! the lice do not jump, the infected head needs to come in contact with a non infected person hair and they run from strand to strand. Little girls get it because they are always hugging and hanging all over eachother

THe fairy lice mother stuff is available in Oceanside, at their shop, or in Wild by Nature, also in Oceanside.
As far as jackets and bags-- it helps a lot if the kids keep their things in plastic bags at school. Hanging together in one closet can spread the infestation.

My DD is 3, and in nursery school. I got a call at work to pick her up immediately because she had lice, needless to say I was shocked!! I did her hair that morning and didn't notice anything.
Picked her up from the nurse and sure enough she was itching her brains out, poor baby. The nurse pointed out the "nits" (eggs) to me and the lice. So disgusting. Then she goes ahead and informs me that the school has had an outbreak for 2 weeks and didn't notify an parents because they thought they had it "under control". I threw a sh!t fit, and the principal sent out letters to everyone that day.
I went to the pediatrician just cause I was so skeeved and wanted to make sure this was over quick. He told me the over the counter CVS lice treatment is cr@p. He gave us a prescription shampoo, I had to comb out 1/2 inch sections.... took me 2 hours. The stuff that came out still haunts me now. She was screaming in tears from all the raking I did to her scalp.
Even though the schools sh!!ty policy is that kids can return to school with nits as long as they've been treated, I kept her home for 4 days. 1 treatment did the trick and everything was dead/gone. I had to bag ALL her stuffed animals for 10 days (eggs take 7 -10 days to hatch and become lice, so you wanna "suffocate" them), her clothes all had to washed/dried on high heat. Her bedding had to be stripped and washed, area rugs, book bag, jacket. Her combs and hair ties in the garbage, bought new ones, and I stopped sharing mine with hers. It was an absolute nightmare!!!
When she returned to school I had to be one of those psycho parents and request that my daughters book bag and jacket not be hung in the coat closet. I provided a big GLAD garbage bag for her belongings. Also for her rest mat and blanket. Also, I bought the entire line of Fireflies products to prevent her from getting it again. I now also do a "lice check" every Sunday night to check for nits/lice. Its become paranoia. TIP: If you see a small white dot, almost microscopic, it may be a nit. The way you can tell is if you flick it and it flies away its dandruff, etc. If it doesn't move and is attached to the hair shaft, you've most probably got nits which will hatch in a week to lice. Her hair, which was beautiful curls going down to the middle of her back has now been cut 3" and is shoulder length. It also goes into a "ballerina style bun" with hairspray everyday.
Be diligent, check weekly, and buy the products!! Goodluck
