Students with Disabilities Cert
If I want to become certified to teach SWD 7 - 12, do you know if you need to also be certified to teach a core subject? I had thought I had heard that in the past, but I don't see it on the state website... Right now, I'm certified in Health, PE, SWD 1 - 6, 5 - 9, and my district wants me to complete my high school cert. Since I'm not certified to teach a core subject, I wasn't sure if that was true. Thanks!

Yeah, I looked at the NYS Web site and I don't think they grant a SpEd Generalist license for Grades 7-12 anymore http://eservices.nysed.gov/teach/certhelp/CertRequirementHelp.do so you'll need to get certified in Students with Disabilities ELA, SS, Math or a Science.
