Anyone with a high schooler that has an IEP?
I received notice of our upcoming CSE meeting for my son. He's in 9th grade. A separate notice addressed to him also came. He never received notices in prior years. I'm thinking maybe it's a HS thing. Does your child go to the CSE meetings? Does the committee expect him/her there?
I am not too keen on the idea of him being there while we are talking about his weaknesses and testing results.

Anyone with a high schooler that has an IEP?
Students have been at most of the cses that I have been to as a high school special Ed teacher.. Maybe it's a high school thing?

as a special ed. teacher in the high school, we encourage the student to go to their meeting. We encourage them to be advocates for themselves. Most of the HS students do go.

I'm a hs counselor and students are encouraged to come to cse meetings beginning in 9th grade

I think after 14 they are required to be invited.

I don't think that's the case, since he was 14 at the beginning of this year, and wasn't sent notice for the meeting in the Spring. It seems to be a HS thing. Not an age thing.

They are never required, but are encouraged.
