Re: Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
Until two or three years ago, we went out to a bar with a whole group of people until late.
Now, DH and I will usually go out for dinner and drinks somewhere local and have some drinks at home.
If our friends were going out locally, we would likely join....however, they are going out in the city tonight, and we can't be scrambling home on the drunk train when we have to feed the masses tomorrow!

Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
When I was younger I would go out in the city when I lived there. Now it's looking like bedtime by 10pm with a 5 month old! How times have changed....

Re: Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
I am ;cooking in preparation for tomorrow. Done: Hanukkah Gingerbread House Pumpkin pie Brownies Pumpkin muffins Pumpkin bread Spinach dip Mushrooms with wine Mushrooms with onions In the oven: butternut squash
I bought an apple pie this year. I just had too much on my plate this week to make it from scratch like the rest of the items. I feel badly about it, but something had to give. It has been an insanely busy week for me this week.

Re: Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
Many many moons ago we used to go out and meet all our friends at the bar. Now I spent the day cooking & cleaning in preparation for tomorrow. I 1st catered a mini Thanksgiving feast at my sons school. Then I made: Mashed Potatoes Green Bean Casserole Roasted Balsamic & bacon Brussel Sprouts Baked clam dip apple pie Coconut Pie Breakfast Casserole (for the morning) And prepped my bird! About an hour ago I finally relaxed on the couch & read my kids 2 Thanksgiving books. Now I'm ready to pass out!
Boy have things changed....

2 nights. There is no way I could do it all in one night. I have to set my table now. The bird is in the oven. It took me an hour this morning to dress and truss it.

WINE
This! And going out to dinner/bars. Not late though. We try to get home by 11ish so we 're not too hungover to enjoy Thanksgiving day

Re: Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
Mom preps the turkey, I bake desserts, and my father 'supervises'
My favorite aunt always calls on Wednesday night (she lives in Florida) - she and my mother give their turkeys ridiculous names and go over their menus with each other since we haven't had Thanksgiving with her in a long time

Re: Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
When I used to live at home with my parents, my mom and I would put music on and start cooking the night before.
Now that I'm married in my own home, I really don't do much the night before thanksgiving. I clean up a bit because I host, but I start cooking the day of.

Traditions on the night before Thanksgiving?
I used to consider the night before thanksgiving a mini New Years Eve, a favorite holiday of mine! As I've gotten older,it's modified to happy hour(s) on Wednesday , home early before all the "kids" come out!
I should add-I don't host and DH and I don't have kids
