POLL- Dispute on hotel stay
Our family went away for the weekend, spent 2 nights in the hotel suite. On the morning we were suppose to leave we found a bed bug on our pillow, and then a few under each mattress. None by the foot of the beds.
The checkout guy which I brought one down to, said the general manager would call us, the hotel chain had a sign satisfaction guaranteed... we had to contact the hotel weeks later, our dispute to the company said we had zero comfort spending 2 hours checking all the luggage and checking children for bites, that it delayed us leaving the hotel, that we took pictures, and brought one to the front desk clerk.
They responded they have refunded the second night(which is 40% of the hotel bill).
Would you follow up with the hotel to push for the full bill? or would you dispute to your credit card company at that point?

First, I'm sorry you had that experience. I'm sure it was quite aggravating!
I'm not sure on this one. On one hand, you did experience a large inconvenience because of this situation. On the other, the bugs weren't noticed until the day of departure. There really isn't "proof" they were there before.
I would probably push a little harder-with the hotel-and then let it rest if you can't get any further.

We didn't have any bites on us, and we didn't have any in our luggage...
That's why I think they were already underneath the mattress before we got there initially...

They could have been brought in by housekeeping when they cleaned your room after the first night. I wouldn't push for a full refund, I think one night is sufficient since they weren't discovered until you were almost ready to check out.

Dispute it with your credit card and don't pay a dime. That is disgusting and I can't believe other posters are telling you that 40% is fair.

I would fight that for a full refund. Did you go to corporate or just the location you stayed at?
Glad you didn't take anything home with you.
I would still be freaking out about it!

This happened to me on the 2nd night of a 3 night hotel stay. The hotel gave me a complete refund for the stay. It wasn't even a question. I would definitely demand a full refund. Whether they were discovered on the first night or last night shouldn't make a difference. Housekeeping should be thoroughly checking rooms before they're turned over to new guests.

This is exactly what I would do
I would do the same. Just wanted to add that I wouldn't let this drag on much longer. I'd call the hotel, speak with a manager and if they say no, then immediately contact my credit card company. I wouldn't play games with them.

I contacted corporate, it looks like someone other than that location got back to me via email.
Very glad we didn't take anything home with us... 2 hours spent to sift through everything, and any future hotel stays will be lifting mattresses up to check underneath... I originally was thinking the full amount.

You can post it on bedbugregistry.com and dispute it with your credit card. I would heat steam each suitcase in plastic bags and wrap them tight. Especially if you had your bags on the floor. Post it on tripadvisor too.
