Anyone induced for non medical reasons?

I suppose you could say I was...
I was induced at 38w1d because my baby was estimated to be 8lbs 7oz at that time and my doctor feared that I wouldn't be able to attempt a natural birth if we waited for labor to kick in. If too much time went by and the baby grew past a certain point, they would've gone straight to a c-section. I posted my concerns here on LIF and it was definitely an unpopular choice, but ultimately I'm happy that we induced. It was a very successful induction (fast labor, no epidural) and considering he nearly got stuck during delivery and weighed in at a healthy 8lbs 1oz, I think it was the right choice for us.

I'm assuming you mean induced early. My OB told me it was not legal to induce prior to 39 weeks. There were concerns about the size of my baby, that's how it came up. He did say that some doctors " work around that standard".
