UTI?

Anyone have a UTI while pregnant? I don't think I've ever had one prior to pregnancy but I'm pretty positive I have one now. I am going to Dr. tomorrow but wanted to see if anyone else has experience...would they give me an antibiotic that is safe for pregnancy?

Re: UTI?

Never had one before, not even in 1st pregnancy. ..now have had 2 in this pregnancy!! I had to take antibiotics both times and they reassured me it was safe to do so. We discussed the pros and cons and what could happen if I didn't treat it. So far, healthy and very active baby in my belly at 34 weeks!

UTI?

I never had a UTI while pregnant but I did have bronchitis early on and I was given antibiotics that were safe during pregnancy. I am certain they would do the same for any bacterial infection. Feel better.

UTI?

I have had urinary track problems my whole life, I pretty much have a constant uti always, to the point where they don't even bother me anymore. If it were to travel to your kidneys while pregnant it could be really bad so I started meds. After 2 rounds of macrobid it didn't go away so they put me on keflax and that killed it. Now I'm on macrobid for suppression for the rest of my pregnancy and it hasn't come back. The risk of it traveling to your kidneys is way worse then anything the meds would do to the baby.

Agree with previous post
There are lots of antibiotics that are safe for pregnancy I think they're called class B
Drs treat uti aggressively when you're preg

Re: UTI?

Thank you everyone! They sent urine & a swab out for a culture...should know in a couple days. She said she wasn't sure if it was start of UTI or possibly bacterial or yeast. She sent in 2 scripts to the pharmacy in case pain gets really bad but I'm going to wait for my culture results to come back before picking it up.

Re: UTI?

I never had a UTI before this pregnancy and now I've had 2! No real symptoms for me - found out both times after having contractions which UTis can apparently cause. Feel better!

Re: UTI?

Ugh, I had one and it was terrible. I went on antibiotics and it cleared right up. There was an OTC pill that she told me to take too. I forget what it was called though.
