What the hell is "Business Festive" ???
I have to go to a dinner w/ DH on Thrusday night - it's a bunch of elite people in the organization .....attire if 'business festive' - For DH it means wear a freakin' red tie and a good suit .........dressed to impress. Done.
For me ..........WHAT ??? I was going to just wear a suit as well w/ some festive jewlery or something, but is that OK ?? I wear a suit to the office every day - it's not a big deal .....but he's a newly promoted VP and everyone going to be looking @ me ans I don't like to be underdressed, or inappropriately dressed (as in, wearing the wrong thing, not as in, showing off my tush !! )
Any ideas?? TIA !!

How about a black sheath dress w/some big jewelry and sparkly heels? or red heels? Or black pants with an embellished top?

According to Emily Post, here is the description. I am a former event planner and a few years ago at a Business Festive Holiday party I wore a black knee length pencil skirt with a cashmere sweater with jewel accents. I was single at the time so I was not looking to support my husband. I remember feeling very comfortable and other woman wearing similar outfits. What you described should be perfect too.

Re: What the hell is "Business Festive" ???
Ok thanks - we're on the same page. I'm either going to wear a Navy sheath & jacket (suit) with jewlery, or a black suit - haven't decided dress or pants .........either way still 'business' - and something I feel comfortable and semi confident in - and then just add some accents to make it 'festive'
I think I might also get a blow out that day so I don't walk in there all big long blonde curly hair ...........

I would go suit with a festive top underneath.

I would go suit with a festive top underneath.
That's what I would do too. As in black suit, red silky/satiny shirt underneath.

What the hell is
I would do a black sheath dress as others suggested and necklace, not too showy. I find wives always tend to 'dress up' for these types of events.

What the hell is
Personally, I would wear a skirt or dress. Something classy and Jackie O.-ish
I always feel that works best for these types of events. JMO
edit: a skirt suit would be great too. I'm anti pants I think. Lol.

Re: What the hell is "Business Festive" ???
Thanks - I want to look polished, but not like I'm trying too hard.
I'm a little annoyed w/ myself for being nervous about this - I work for a huge corporation and have been attending these events for years ........for myself.
I think it's the whole "VP's wife" thing that has me freaked out. Like everyone's going to be holding me to some impossible standard.
