Overprotective or not?
I need an opinion. My DS is in Kindergarten in a private school. There are only 5 kids in his school.
They have their first field trip - a small local airport that gives private lessons. The place is 15 minutes from the school. A parent has volunteered to drive the kids in 5 car seats. DH is saying no - that he would prefer to drive DS. The kids are going together and having lunch there.
There are times that I think we are overly protective....DH all the time. I think it's fine...DH does not. I think we need to give DS the ability to do this with his classmates. Can I get opinions?
Edited to add more information below...

Hel!! NO! No way. I know nothing bout this parent personally, drivng record, etc. The parent is crazy for even making that offer IMO!

Re: Overprotective or not?
I need more information. Do you know the parent?
If you know them well enough and trust them, then I agree with you, if they are total strangers, then I would probably try to figure out my own transportation.
ETA bc I gotta ask: only 5 kids in the whole SCHOOL?

Re: Overprotective or not?
Did the school then organize a field trip with no school arranged transportation?

Re: Overprotective or not?
That would be a big fat NO in my book.
I barely want my MIL to pick DS up from school and drive him to her house a few blocks away.
I'm with your DH with this one.

Sorry, that was a typo. There are 5 kids in his class. The school is a small Montessori school in NNJ. They have a total of 25 kids in the school. The mom is the head of the Parents organization and has 3 kids in the school. Her daughter is in DS's class.
I have known her for 3 years and can say we are acquaintances. Our kids don't have play dates but I see her at school and at birthday parties.
After all the responses and reading what I wrote, I think I will go with him husband. It's sometimes easier to hear an outside perspective. We are extremely overprotective and sometimes I wonder when we should start letting go a little bit.
Thanks all!

Re: Overprotective or not?
Would you allow him to on a school bus? Here, the buses do not have seatbelts.

Nope! Unless this parent is a friend of yours and you know them personally.

Re: Overprotective or not?
I agree with everyone, and I tend to lean on the very relaxed side with everything. But I myself would never offer to drive 5 children that aren't all family or very close friends... Wayyyy too much risk involved, so I'm surprised someone volunteered to drive all.

I would have to agree. No way would I let some random parent/person drive my child. I would be taking her there myself too..........I agree with your DH 100%.
