Any experiences with these Manhattan REs?

Does anyone have any experiences with:

Dr. Pak Chung
Dr. Isaac Kligman
Dr. Dan Goldshlag
Dr. Andrea Vidali
Dr. Drew Tortoriello

The first three are with Cornell, the Ronald Perelman and Claudia Cohen Center. Alot of people on this site recommend Dr. Tortoriello but I hear it's hard to get an appointment with him. If he is worth it, would you mind telling me how he is different from other REs?

Also I'm looking for an RE who will try a holistic approach first and not push ivf. If anyone has any thoughts on any of the doctors mentioned I'd really appreciate it.

Re: Any experiences with these Manhattan REs?

I've worked with 1 and had two other consults with two of the doctors.
I think a recommendation depends upon your issues and needs.
Specifically, Dr. Tortoriello of SIRM works well with patients with immune related issues where as Cornell has a great lab and would work best with women who need that approach.
I don't have any experience with a "hollistic" approach per say because I did numerous IVF cycles but I did use supplements and acupuncture to my benefit.

Lots of luck

I went to RMA NY in Manhattan and definitely recommend the practice. I'm not sure what kind of holistic approaches they take, but depending on your dx, they would most likely do IUIs before IVF.

I don't think RMA takes my insurance. The doctors aren't on my insurance website. I have blue cross blue shield.

Re: Any experiences with these Manhattan REs?

Kligman is phenomenal. He suspected endo with me and did an emergency lap- had stage IV endo plus adhesions! It was so advanced that he and another Dr said I would need IVF to get pregnant but I became pregnant with my DS naturally a year later. If it were not for his guidance and excellent surgical skills, I would have no reproductive organs. I wish he took my insurance bc I would be seeing him and Dr. Chung for IVF.

I used Columbia and loved them. By dr is no longer there since she moved out west. I would still go back there though.

I never waited long at RMA but I also made sure to be there at 7am right when monitoring started. Dh and I ended up having so much time before work we would always go out for breakfast together

Usually, I only had to wait 5-10 minutes at RMA and I got there between 7:30-8:00. There was one day during my cycle though that I waited FOREVER (probably 45 minutes), but I think that was more of a fluke - a Saturday over the summer and too many people cycling at once!

I heard it's bad at Cornell. It's first come first serve for monitoring.

Re: Any experiences with these Manhattan REs?

I saw Dr. Davis @ Cornell and Dr. Mukherjee @ RMANY. I thought Cornell was a more tightly run ship, but both clinics were good. IVF retrieval was more humane at RMA. Cornell does theirs through NY Presbyterian and you can easily end up waiting (without coffee or food) from 6am-11 or 12 if you get an unlucky time slot in the OR schedule.

Monitoring @ Cornell (NYC) on the weekends was insanely crowded, but not so bad during the week. On the weekends, they have a fellow do monitoring for less high-stakes cases (early IVF stim, IUI, natural cycle, etc.) and a regular doctor for IVFers close to trigger. If you're on the first list, you can be there for hours, but the latter list (in my experience) goes fast. The GC satellite is a lot less crowded and starts a little before 8am Monday-Thursday because Dr. Kang is there. But on Fridays it's Goldschlag, and he is not courteous about people's time. He is also not thorough with his ultrasounds or the information he reports to patients at the monitoring appointment.

With both practices I had really fantastic nurses assigned to me who handled everything efficiently and with kindness.

I don't know much about those specific doctors, but Chung did my IVF transfer quickly and skillfully. He is a little, um, Vulcan, for lack of a better word. Bright, not mean, but had kind of a cold/blunt scientist vibe in terms of bedside manner. But that's not important to some people, me being one of them...just an observation.

Davis and Mukherjee were great, but I'm partial to Davis. I know the main desk will say he is out-of-network for most people, but when I called his office, they were able to bill all his consults through the clinic itself, which was in-network.

GL!
