Help! What to do?!

We had plans to do an upstate wine trail tomorrow, complete with a limo driver for 12 hours but because of the snow, we are thinking of scrapping the idea.

unfortunately, we still have a limo booked for 12 hours and can't get out of it. what should we do instead? anything going on on long island tomorrow? i'd like to avoid the city because of santacon...

I would call them and ask if they can give you credit for a future date.

Re: Help! What to do?!

they won't let us cancel the limo. even the wine tour is already paid for but it's only $150 for 6 of us to go so it's not the end of the world. the limo is the expensive part...

The weathermen I follow on Facebook seems to think it's not going to be as bad as expected. I'm supposed to go to the Essex Steam Train in CT tomorrow so I feel your pain!

Here's his link if you want to take a look: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Craig-Allen-On-Air-Inc/230609267719

Safe travels!

Re: Help! What to do?!

The wineries out east usually close when there is accumulating snow. Since less people live out here it seems like the roads take forever to get plowed. I would call before going.

Go upstate to the Woodbury outlets. There are a few vineyards nearby. Palaia is my fav.

IMO it is a safety issue to be on the roads and a legit limo company would not want to be out on the roads when it's not a necessity.

While I agree, it sounds like they are keeping the deposit either way.

Pretty much a jerky thing to do and not something for good business.

I'm interested to hear the update.

I've been out and about in Western Suffolk/Eastern Nassau and it seems fine but I don't know what it will be like out later or if it starts freezing rain.

It's usually worse up there though than it is here.

Even though they are generally much more equipped to handle it and don't panic like Long Islanders do.

We wound up ditching the hudson valley wine trail idea and just went out to the wineries on long island out east.

limo company was really understanding about the change. instead of charging us for the 12 hours we actually booked, they charged us $80 per hour (including tip) and told us we had to use the car for at least 6 hours. We wound up using it for 8 so it was a great day despite the crazy weather. the safety was definitely an issue so I'm glad we didn't go upstate where they got significantly more snow.

Thanks for the help!

Re: Help! What to do?!

Glad the situation worked itself out.

This weather over the weekends was nuts.

I can't believe Sunday morning I woke up and it was like nothing happened on Saturday.
