cycle frustrations-updated

Ok so I am back to waiting for AF...
Went of bc in April and it took 66 days for AF to come...now I am on day 31 and wondering if it is going to go 66 days like last time. I hate not knowing the deal!Chat Icon

Re: cycle frustrations

I think we have the same cycle!! My first one off bc (in April) was 62 days and now I'm on day 50-something of my second cycle. I agree, this waiting is awfully frustrating. I actually have an appointment with my dr. next week.

I totally feel your pain. Let me know what your doctor suggests. I may have to call myself!

If it helps, my first cycle off the pill was long (45 days) but my second one was shorter (around 33)... maybe yours is just adjusting for now.

These hormones are crazy--I dont think I ever want to go back on the pill!

I already know I never want to go back on. This can't be good for our bodies!

My body has gone crazy from going off of the pill--my skin, my hair, my moods.... its awful! We'll just have to pick another method of birth control when we're done with TTC.... I can't go back!

So sorry! I was on the pill two different times and I didn't really notice any change when I came off the pill...but I wasn't on it for very long either time. It was only about a year each time....so maybe my body didn't become too used to it Chat Icon

I think 10 years of taking it messed me up...glad you don't have any problems with it.

Re: cycle frustrations

How were your cycles before you went on the pill? Mine weren't regular at all (which is why I went on in the first place). Now, 10 years later, I'm irregular again. I wonder if I'll ever be normal!!

You know, I was so young that I really don't remember. I am pretty sure I got it every month within a day or two of each other. But this was back when I was 19.

KimH,
Did your dr. give you any blood tests or anything when you saw him/her? I'm going to my dr. next week with the same issues and am not sure what questions to ask. I'm not sure I'm ready for Provera yet.

I had bloodwork done originally when i went to my doctor pre ttc. My doctor isn't concerned that I havent had af yet he said it takes time after coming off the pill and everyone's body is different. I took provera and all I had from it was 7 days of spotting. I told my dr. and he's giving me more provera for next month. Its so annoying. I wish I would have gone off bc much sooner than I did.

I am going through something similar. It has been 2 months since my last real AF (had some spotting in between) and I don't know how long I should wait before calling my Doctor.Chat Icon I also just stopped the pill after being on it for years.

Re: cycle frustrations

I went off BC in april so I could start TTC sometime this year...but it is now day 36 after a 66 day cycle I am thinking it is going to take my body tons of time to regulate. I should have went of the pill last year like I wanted to. This is rediculous! I have no idea when AF will show again! Chat Icon

Okay AF showed after 40 days this time. Guess that is better than 66 days! Chat Icon

Re: cycle frustrations-updated

Ladies, I would not let this go to long. It should not take you that long to get your period and could be a sign of hormonal imbalance. If your not being aggressive about TTC right away and have the time to wait it out another cycle or two and see, fine. Otherwise, go get bloodwork done. I had a 35 day cycle, then a 60 day cycle, then another 35 day cycle and it turned out I have PCOS and not ovulating regularly. And if you go say 60 days and then bleed, you may not even be ovulating and getting your period, but may just be shedding some of the excess buildup in your body.

ETA: If your not sure that your doc is doing the right thing (because it's amazing how little GYNs know about infterility issues), don't be afraid to go directly to an RE. It'll save lots of time and frustration.

Re: cycle frustrations-updated

I know. We are TTC and I've been charting and know that I'm not ovulating. I went off BC at the end of March, so it's been 4 months of irregular cycles. I went to the dr. 2 weeks ago and she did a pg test, which came out negative. Tomorrow I'm going back to meet with her and discuss bloodwork. I'm going to insist on doing some tests to find out why I'm not ovulating.

I had blood work done in may pre ttc. Would pcos have shown up in that?
